Roll Call: KC Area

Swope is a must. Winterstone, Stone Canyon are great. Also consider Fred Arbanas. Great walkable course with a really fun layout

If you all had a day to play a round or two within a 4 hours-ish drive from the metro, where are you going? Let’s say public, non-Big Cedar category.

Old Kinderhook - Lake of the Ozarks is my answer

Was once as high as #3 public course in state (now down to 5 i think)

Hugely challenging and always in phenomenal shape

Landmand is just over 4 hours from downtown KC…

Hidden Valley in Clever, MO. An absolute unknown gem.

I always write off the lake and I’m not really sure why.

This post was prompted by looking for Landmand tee times only to find out they’re aren’t any tee times left for 2024. Perhaps next year?

And close to Nixa which is Jason Bourne’s hometown.

Kinderhook is a gem. Favorite time to go is early November when greens fees drop to $40 and you can get a cabin on property for next to nothing

Mules National is freaking sweet, had a trip to KC for golf last March that but got snow in the area that day(frost? I can’t remember) and called an audible and went down there, such a cool course, even without 18 considered

I’m so sorry if this has already been done, but can someone update me on the Hillcrest situation in one post? I’ve been totally MIA, but catching bits and pieces.

Just read @BlueRiverNotHOA’s post history. Dudes connections rival that of the royal family

Attention: Your presense is requested to join GPGC sickos and fellow avid KC hitters at the most outstanding golf-themed bar in KC for some cold buckets of beer and degenerate bar gambling (if that suits your style). There is certain to be plenty of stories told and course architecture discussed.

Saturday, February 10th
7pm - whenever
Sand Trap Bar & Grill
13037 Holmes Road, KCMO 64145

This is a can’t miss opportunity to catch up with old friends and make new ones before our season officially kicks off in a couple months. Hope to see everyone there!

Update: Closing date got pushed back again. This time to March. I am starting to lose faith that this deal with actually close. Having the current owner (Doug Price) continue to neglect the course and try to do everything as cheaply as possible is a terrible outcome.

Maybe we need to drop by and say hello, you know what I’m saying.

For anyone interested, Skyes/Lady finished their bunker renovation over the winter. Billy bunkers may be removing any kind of uniqueness bunkers can potentially have, but I’ll take it over the washed out mud pits their bunkers have been over the last few years.

Along with the bunkers, they removed some trees and renovated some holes. Hole 1 on south had the larger tree near the green removed and the changed the bunker to some kind of donut shape:

Hole 8 (par 3) on South had the bunker on the left removed and the grass has been shaved down so now you can be ejected into the water on the left:

Lots more than just that. I know it’s had to get a time out there without a patrons card, but highly recommend people get out there an check it out.

Isn’t this what swope was allegedly supposed to be doing soon as well?
