Roll Call: Ohio (OATW adjacent) and localized ice cream debates (Part 1)

I called York, they suggested Delaware or Glenn Ross… what’s choice between those?

I’d probably go neither of those and head over to Darby Creek or even Safari. If you put a gun to my head I’d pick Delaware though. Glenross is whatever and what they’re charging is too much. Delaware is also whatever but there’s a handful of original Ross holes that are good.

Is Oak Haven any good?

Oak Haven is fine, tight on the back 9. Very Sycamore Springs vibes. Would definitely play Darby if you can and then Mill Creek before playing Oak Haven, Delaware, or Glenross.

Well sad to report that Darby and Safari both have outings so I’ve got it booked at Glen Ross… Unless someone comes through with the Scarlet invite, I’ll just keep my socks on and try Darby the next time I’m around. Thanks!

Good afternoon Ohio! I just moved to Cincinnati from Nashville (teaching at Moeller) and am looking at getting out there once this heat wave dies down. Any good course recs in the Cincy area? I’m in Oakley, so east side preferred.

What up! Welcome to Cincy. Your most convenient options will be Reeves, California, Avon Fields (bless) and Blue Ash. If you want to play on the weekends, you will likely need to book a tee time a week in advance. Every other course will require a 20-30 minute drive but there are plenty of courses to check out.

Also, the Ohio match play tournament is kicking off with free play until spring, highly recommend signing up and setting up matches OATW Match Play - 2024 Edition Kickoff! - #1912 by golf4miami

Welcome to the SW Ohio crew! I’ll second @methridge, specifically on Reeves and Avon. Those two are pretty near and dear to the Cincy-area Refugee crowd. Vastly different terrain, the former being as flat as the Lunken airfield it sits next to, the latter playing up and over the hills. Both are supremely walkable and won’t drain your wallet.

I’ll also second the Ohio match play push; would love to set up a match sometime!

Welcome to Ohio!

Since @methridge linked my event, I’m going to link his.

Definitely consider jumping in with two feet by being at Cincy V.

Thank you all! Reeves and Avon Fields are both close so I will check them out soon. Definitely considering Cincy V if I can get my game back by then!

NE Ohio faithful. I’ll be up in Silver Lake/Stow area over Wednesday night this week, was looking to get 9 or maybe a few extra that evening. Anyone have any good recommendations within say 30 minutes of driving?

Of course, welcome to anyone wanting to play as well. Fingers crossed it stays below 90 degrees that day…

Thanks!

Brookledge.

(The greens still feel “new”, there’s some really stupid holes out there man including almost all of ‘em on the back, they over-water the course, the facilities are dated, etc.) I think Sycamore vibes are much much better.
I’m a 39 year old man with 2 kids and I’m ready to fight over my take. Shoutout SGS Pod

Any silver lake members here who can get him out? Was a member there like 7 years ago and always enjoyed it. Unfortunately don’t have any contacts there anymore.

Not a member, but played there recently in an outing and the greens are absolute fire. Uphill putts felt like flat or downhill putts everywhere else. They just all seemed to run out longer than anticipated. Very cool course, it was also soaked when we played it so I’d love another shot when it was dry.

As some of you may know I run a charity golf tournament every year in the Fall at Kinsale and Scioto Reserve that funds research for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

This year we are doing the event on October 2nd under a foundation that my wife and I formed earlier this year.

We have lots of fun, food, and beverages planned on the course and great after party including getting to hear from Jim Tressel. We will also have some great auction items you can bid on online. We believe we will have a group for Muirfield Village up for grabs.
