If any DFW folks want to see Turnpike tonight at Billy Bob’s dm me. I have two tickets I’m trying to give away.
Howdy, sir! Just got you added to our local roost, Big Plex. If you’d like to get in on some golf, your best spot would be joining our discord server: There you can find local tee times with the crew, information on upcoming events, and a bunch of random banter. You can find that here: Big Plex
Spurs?
COYS!
Many thanks. Much appreciated.
Hi all. could I get a fresh discord link? Just joined the nest, looking forward to meeting yall and playing some golf
Sorry that I missed this, there’s been a lot of traffic this week. Looks like you found a fresh discord link elsewhere?
Yes sir, scrolled up and found a live one. Should be good to go.
Looking for some input from those in The Plex area. My brother-in-law is having his bachelor party in Dallas in mid April this year. He was a former Columbia teammate of the Neil, Merch Czar himself.
Any recommendations on courses to play, areas of the city to go for dinner/nights out, or any other fun activities for us to consider? We admittedly are completely in the dark on things to do but excited to experience a new place. We’ve all done the usual destinations at this point in our lives.
Where are you guys staying?
Nothing decided yet. In that process now.
Courses to Play:
- Texas Rangers: Wide open track, ton of fun, cool course, will be in excellent shape in April as it hosts a Korn Ferry event that month (it may actually be the week of your trip, in which case I’d highly suggest going to the tourney).
- Stevens Park: A Big Plex staple. Cool views of the city, very casual vibes, does not beat up on you. May be difficult getting tee times.
- PGA Frisco (WEST COURSE): Haven’t played but the much more enjoyable track for a bachelor party of the two. The most expensive of this list and a bit out of loop, but I’ve been told it’s a great time.
Areas of the City for Dinner/Nights Out:
- Park Cities/Uptown. Bob’s for a steakhouse, Javier’s for a very upscale Mexican restaurant (or just for the cigar bar), or a dozen other solid spots for any fare you would like. Plenty of bars in the area, but I would stick to Henderson if you don’t want to feel old. If you go to Lovers and Tollway (also park cities), you have Rafa’s for a very solid Tex Mex Spot with great margaritas, Odelay for a more contemporary version of Mexican, or Lover’s Seafood for a great meal. You can walk over to Inwood Tavern or Time Out Tavern, both of which are much more the mid thirties crowd.
- Lakewood/East Dallas: Plenty of good choices over here. Lakewood Landing and Milo Butterfingers for decent bar spots.
-Bishop Arts: the area I live. Good restaurants. One or two bars that aren’t bad (Revelers Hall is a great jazz bar).
Other activities:
- If you’re looking for a daytime spot, you can watch golf and enjoy beverages at our most popular patio, Katy Trail Icehouse. Do NOT have more than 2 margaritas for both price and physical reasons.
- There may be a Stars or a Mavs game going on, which backs up to a decent amount of bars and restaurants. A rangers game too, which is out in Arlington, 25 minutes or so from downtown.
- If you need a walk to sweat out shenanigans, I would suggest White Rock Lake or the Katy Trail.
- Into museums? Sixth Floor Museum (JFK), The Perot Museum (Science), the Holocaust Museum, and the Dallas Museum of Art are all very close to each other downtown.
That’s all I can think of for now. We don’t have much topography to be proud of, so the city is centered around eating, drinking, sports and shopping. If you want true Texas vibes, head west to Fort Worth, which is a whole other list.
This is very helpful, thank you!
Very much second the Javier’s rec for dinner. You’re gonna want to fight the margarita hangover the next morning with an BEC on an everything bagel from Shugs near SMU.
Or on Lemmon. No need to fight the college crowds for good bagels anymore.
To our associates south of the Red River, the Supercell Major is now open for registration. Info in the post below. Select the hyperlink to navigate to the google docs signup. Once we hit about 20, I’ll have an official registration come out through Unknown Golf. Reach out with any questions, and hope to see some of you guys there.
@duckhunter07 feel free to share this info in your discord or wherever you all are most active.
I’ve got it shared!
Can I get an updated discord server link? The last one listed says it’s “invalid or expired”. Thanks, new to this
I would use this as well! Just accepted a new job in Dallas so would love to meet up with folks for some golf
