Ok, Wichita move-in day is officially this Saturday. Those in the area, hope to get out with ya’ll soon!

Also, any food/coffee recs would be much appreciated! We’re renting a house for a few months out in Maize, if that helps, but I’m willing to drive for good coffee, food and more importantly, golf.

LOOOTTTS of thoughts here:

As a lover of food (I’m fat) and even coffee, I’ll do my best.

Coffee:
Reverie (East of DT)
Pennant (Delano)
R Coffeehouse (Riverside)
Cocoa Dolce (multiple, fun vibe, good “extra” drinks beyond black coffee)

Dinner:
West
Bella Vita (West St) - great hidden gem, doesn’t look like much outside, but I promise it’s worth it.
6S - upscale, fancy, sometimes overpriced, but quality is still great!
Twelve - Upscale Casual, nice menu

Downtown:
Sabor - A+
Siena Tuscan - great hotel restaurant
Lotte - upscale casual, smaller portions

East
George’s - favorite restaurant in town
Chester’s - upscale, higher end
Belmont - upscale casual
Wine Dive - upscale casual
Red Rock - regional “chain” but always dynamite!
Scotch & Sirloin - it’s the “who’s who” in town, expensive, hate the owner with a passion, but the quality is almost always on point.

BBQ:
B&C BBQ
Station 8
When Pigs Fly
Bite Me BBQ
Two Brothers & Hog Wild are fine in a pinch, but more “corporate” although local

Breakfast:
Beacon - greasy spoon, old, griddle is money!
Doo Dah Diner - well portioned, always busy, unique menu items
Homegrown - started in Wichita, becoming regional, good quality

Pizza/Italian:
Ziggy’s & The Depot (Shamleas plus as my extended family owns these spots).
Piatto- good quality Neapolitan
Angelo’s
Maple Street Pizza
IL Vicino

This should get you covered to get started!

Man everyone loves this place but I was so let down the one time we went. I can’t remember what I ordered but it wasn’t bad, just didn’t impress me. We like homegrown for breakfast as well

Just linking a post from a few months ago with some food + bar recs.

Great list by @RetiredClubPro. Wichita has plenty to offer, but adding a few restaurants in the surrounding area to check out if you feel like getting out of town:

The Barn - Burrton - homestyle food, great chicken fried steak.

Cy’s Hoof & Horn - Sedgwick - good small town steakhouse, still serves mountain oysters

The Hub - Moundridge - brick oven pizza with lots of beers on tap.

R-B Drive In - Hutchinson - old school drive-in burger joint. Limited hours - homemade onion rings on Saturdays.

Roy’s BBQ - Hutchinson - hickory smoked bbq, limited hours. Will have a line when they open and stops serving when they run out of meat for the day.

Carriage Crossing - Yoder - homestyle food near an Amish community. Homemade pies.

Elderslie Farm - north of Wichita - upscale farm to table fine dining. Blackberry patch and goat farm / creamery on site.

Great additions if you spread your wings and drive around the surrounding towns.

I would tell @japolo1987 to meet you out there, but it’s sort of rude when he career rounds you at Cherry Oaks the first time he meets you.

If a guy has a career round with me, I’ll be happy to watch.

Would love to, but unfortunately, I have to work tomorrow so no golf for me…

Just about all of them. haha. Honestly, there isn’t a brewery in the area that I have disliked. Central Standard is probably one of my favorites.

Went to CS last week and it’s easily top of my list, so far…

Current ranking:

  • Central Standard
  • Wichita Brewing Co.
  • Bricktown
  • River City Brewing

I’m hitting up Hopping Gnome and Tor Brewing this weekend.

Some other thoughts so far…

The zoo and Riverfront stadium are very fun.

Homegrown has some great brunch/breakfast food.

Pennant Coffee is quickly becoming my favorite coffee/coffeeshop in the city

Chicken and Pickle is awesome and Genesis Health Clubs are overpriced.

Norton’s is Fun, killer outdoor area. You could also check out, “The Depot”, its a spin off from Ziggys Pizza but they have a bunch of taps from Walnut River Brewing, which is another one of my favorite brands. They are based out of El Dorado and that restaurant used to be theirs before they decided to get out…but found someone to keep the taps on as a combined effort.
