A thread for the Texas folks

Good afternoon Houstonians.

I enjoyed last night.

It wasn’t what I had planned but I fired those tweets off at a Habachi restaurant while some guy flung shrimp at my 7 year old nephew so I’d say we spiced things up a little.

Happy Birthday!

Hey Hill Country hitters, I’m going to return to the area Mar 6th through 10th to play in a fundraiser golf event for my college at Vaaler Creek on that Thursday. Looking to play some golf in the area on the other days. My college was in Seguin, so I’ll probably incorporate a campus visit one or multiple days. If you don’t know, it’s about 35 mins east of San Antonio and 55 mins south of Austin. Likely flying in an out of San Antonio, but I’ll see if Austin is better. If any of you are free for a round in that time frame, let me know.

Fellow Texans
I would like a minute or two of your time.

Sorry to get political here but this is the best place for it

If you are voting in the republican primary elections, I ask that you vote “NO” on Prop 11
Greg Abbott has been pushing for school vouchers for a while now. He wants to take public tax dollars and give them to private school parents. Public money needs to stay in public schools.

Currently as the proposed bill is written a family of 4 can send their child to private school and then receive over 40K from the state every year.

Currently Prop 11 looks like this
Proposition 11
Texas parents and guardians should have the right to select schools, whether public or private,
for their children, and the funding should follow the student.
YES
NO

The governor and his people are call for “school choice” in Texas but we already have it.

To not jam up this thread feel free to DM me with questions and Ill do the best I can to answer them

We’re shamelessly politically grandstanding now?

I’m going to be in the DFW area in mid April for work. What are the top high quality public courses to play in the area?

Just posted in the Dallas thread, but posting here as well, for visibility.

Howdy friends!

I missed the drop on the L or XLs in these but hopefully others are interested… this polo is too good

If you’re staying in Grand Prairie, I’d recommend a round nearby at Rangers. It’s a little pricier, but it’s fun, in good shape, and is enjoyable for both high caps and low caps.

Also, as your plans get firmed up, hop into our discord and look at the Find a Tee Time tab to join up with some folks from our crew that weekebd

Houston and Adjacent gang, we’ve got 1 opening for the Texas Cup, 4/5-4/7. Here’s the thread about it:

It’s a 3 day Ryder Cup style event between Houston, Austin, and DFW. Lots of fun.

Bumping above. Team DFW has a spot open.

@clktex is usually good to find someone from his local golfing establishment that won’t totally embarass him (or disown him, after meeting us) to join us …

I just got a 750 tee time on a Saturday at Stevens park. Felt like the entire state of Texas should know. Possibly my greatest golf achievement.

Hey Texans, I’ll be in Fort Worth visiting family at the end of the month, managed to carve out a golf day for myself. Anyone looking to play Rockwood Park the morning of 4/26 (or have a more appropriate thread to ask this question)?
