@Insulin_And_Bogeys loves rockwood
Love Rockwood! I’ll check the schedule as we get a bit closer to the 26th since it’s a Friday.
Houstonians and dwellers of the Greater Houston Adjacency:
We’ve got the Space City Slam coming up on 5/3 and 5/4. Friday, we’ll play 36 at Gus. Then, on Saturday, we conclude at Cypresswood Traditions. We’ll be doing Stableford scoring, with Gus accumulating half-points and full points at Traditions.
You can sign up here: 2024 STROH’s Meet Up - Google Sheets
This is a STROHS event, but membership isn’t required.
I would have to play earlier in the morning if I could make it out as I have a wedding early that evening. Looks like there’s nothing before 11:24 rn. Before 10 would be what I would need. I’ll keep an eye out throughout the week
Right on. I’m also keeping an eye on the weather, at this point looks not great. If there’s a big storm threat still showing on Wednesday I think I’ll just leave the sticks at home this time.
The decision has been made to leave the clubs at home for this trip. We’ll be back down before too long so will try and line something up then. Enjoy the wedding!
My friends and I refer to this as “external factors” impacting golf plans.
We’ve got an opening at 12:50 at Gus on Friday.
Question for the locals about Barton Creek. My yearly golf trip next year is likely to be in Austin at Barton Creek - lots of guys on the trip prefer a resort, stay-and-play situation. The Golf Buddies Package on the website suggests you get one round for each night stayed which is likely Thurs-Sat, meaning we’d only get three of the four courses included. Is there an obvious 4th course there, aka the most skippable? I’m thinking maybe the Palmer course since I’ve heard the least about it. Some of us might pony up for it separately but leaning towards that - any thoughts?
Skip the Palmer course, it’s not on the main resort property about a 40min drive away, and it’s a mediocre at best course compared to the rest. If you’re itching to add a 4th round, either add a second round at one of the main courses, or go Strapped mode and make the jaunt into town to play Muny
omar is a hater. Palmer is much better than mediocre. That said, it is the one to skip since it is not on property.
Sir, I specifically said “compared to the rest” (but yes i am, i’ve only ever played out there in the summer and its a pain in the ass)
Me, hating from outside the club
I definitely would not skip Fazio Canyons or Crenshaw
I tried to CC y’all into my original post, but I couldn’t figure it out, so I’ll just repost in here.
Not sure if anyone in here as people or property in Ruidoso, but if so, I hope your people are safe and my wife and I are thinking of you.
If you haven’t heard, there’s two fires burning in and around the village right now both at 0% contain and it isn’t looking good for survival of the village. There was a forced evacuation yesterday evening.
Anyone interested in playing Trinity Forest the Monday of Thanksgiving week, the signups for this event usually go live around Halloween. Usually have pretty decent NLU representation between Plex and STROHs. Not an NLU event, just a charity outing.
Right, but if we play the on-property courses and have an extra round to play, I’m inclined to make it Palmer (since some guys will likely bounce, so they won’t miss the better courses) and I think I’d rather at least play all four rather than double up and skip one. Our package means we’re paying for four rounds so we’re playing four rounds at Barton Creek, so there you go.
Why are you giving away our secrets??
Discovery Land Co. also just bought some acreage in Aledo and is building a course not too far from Tiger’s.
