Wow. That looks lovely and interesting
Couldn’t have asked for a nicer weather day in February. Big shoutout to @bogeytax for setting this one up.
#7 approach and green
#14 green (candidate for best hole)
#17 green (mere mortals don’t have the swing speed to hold this green from 200+)
Was gonna text you. Could’ve sworn this closed. Apparently it did!
Great shirt
I need to play here!
This might get my vote (has nothing to do with being my only birdie I swear )
Couldn’t have asked for a better day! Great weather, better company and a course that really wowed me.
A few more pics of notable holes I enjoyed.
#4 par 4
#16 par 5
I used to play Ocala GC and Lake Diamond quite a bit while I was at UF. Also remember playing Stone Creek a few times. Very decent public options in Ocala!
Damn, this looks sweet. It definitely doesn’t look like Florida golf.
Did you ever play El Diablo before it closed?
Sure did, maybe 4-5 times. I remember liking it quite a bit. It was so remote that I’m not surprised it went under. Like the courses in Ocala and Gainesville, it had a lot more in common with Georgia golf than typical Florida golf.
Monday - Streamsong Red
Tuesday - Old Marsh
Also before that, Sunday - Deltona, Saturday - every hole on property at Cabot Citrus Farms, Friday - Winter Park 9
Not a bad 5 days
Sunningdale is my number 1 course of all time. Need to get back there soon.
What’s the conditioning like in the winter?
My inspiration for yesterday
A Scottish friend of mine is the host of the Top100GolfCourses.com podcast. He was over for the PGA Show the week prior and came to Atlanta for this past week. Between us, we managed to arrange a nice 5 days of golf from Tennessee to South Carolina.
Weds 31 January:
Lookout Mountain Club
my hitter @jan42dk getting ready to launch
Stayed by Sweetens Cove that night, so we did some night putting competitions. It wasn’t warm!
My friend Cullen making a 17 on one hole (officially dubbed a “Cullen”)
Thurs 1 February:
Sweetens Cove
Hendo in the Plus 4s
Cullen trying to match Hendo’s plus 4s look… trying
Team Penfold (not the best for carts really)
Fri 2 February:
Augusta CC
the view up Raes Creek, little patch of the greenest of the green in the distance…
One of the guys we played with took us to Forest Hills at dusk to squeeze in a few holes (1-3, 6-9). Sanded greens were a little dodgy. Seemed like a fun enough track.
Sat 3 February:
The Tree Farm
After 18 at The Tree Farm, we decided to check out Aiken Golf Club. One of our caddies, an ex-Latin Tour Player named Garland Smith joined us. He was an absolute stick. We were both pretty tired so this was the only pic…
Sun 4 Feb:
Old Barnwell
me and Hendo
14. Favorite hole on the property. That sneaky bunker you can’t see at all on your approach. Managed to avoid it.
Jesus, what a trip. If you ever need a 4th, let me know.
@westerj12 is everyone all paid up for entries?
I’m not following the thread anymore, but why do I feel like this is the answer?
God damn what a trip!
