Beautiful day today at Sunningdale

Huge thank you to @dshaddy for hosting today at Bella Collina, FL.

Great course, great company. :+1:

Lake Nona yesterday. Course in fantastic condition following the LPGA event last week. Really playable and fun golf course.

First round of the year was at Spotswood Country Club (shoutout to the VSGA card). Everything was starting left and going left, but the weather was undefeated. Highlight was hitting a 7i which tipped up of the power line and still went to 15-20’.

Looped Chambers bay with 7 clubs from the 5555 Tees yesterday. I usually play the Sands (6586) or Sand/Greys (6302), but we had a monthly challenge going in out crew, to play a course less than 6000 yards with 7 clubs.

the 5555 tee’s are all the ciricled yardages

If you have played Chambers before, and want to mix it up, I absolutely recommend the 5555.

Yes, that ball is going 45-degrees to the right.

edit: forgot to add one. I’ve played chambers maybe dozens of times since 2020, and It took until yesterday to find my self in the affectionally named “Devils Anus” bunker on 18

Lefty 3w was not the play, but it was really the only way I could reach the ball. Missed it once. 2nd swing it rolled down into the bunker where I needed to basically flop a SW to get out cleanly.

Awesome pictures! Still very very angry at the green on 15. The hill back left of the green can rot in hell. Lol

24 RACDG NorCal Bearcubs descended on the Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton on Saturday for the Ursa Major. We had awesome weather and a course in pretty good shape after recent storms. $73 to walk on a Saturday morning.

We had a delightful 4-ball with my dudes @TheHonChiefJustice @MediumRandy and @jrdadbod.

Well our home course killed him so we have that going for us (St. Johnsbury)

Strictly speaking it’s last week now but it was too good NOT to share so, in addition to Bay Hill and Bella Collina (with @dshaddy) I played both courses at Sawgrass, Belleair, Lake Nona and Isleworth.

I can’t get used to seeing Isleworth with all the dead grass especially when it’s in perfect condition this time of year. Excited to see it after the renovation/re-turfing.

It was very odd. It still played ok but I don’t know what it’s going to be like in, say, another month.

Work scheduled to start April 1st and, although I’m told they are going to make some tweaks, the routing is set to stay largely unaltered.

Already looking forward to heading back next year to play again.

Had the pleasure of joining @dshaddy at Pine Tree Golf Club in Boynton Beach. Played with an older couple of members there, Mike and Mary. Two of the nicest people I’ve ever met, and I’m convinced Mary is the fastest golfer on the planet, she barely stopped to swing but every ball was down the middle for her. Only knock on Mike was that he said he enjoyed being paired with EAL at an event.

Pine Tree was in immaculate shape. Interesting green complexes surrounded by a ton of bunkers (I believe 125 was the number Mike said). Course was very playable though, despite this warning in the pro shop.

Highlight of the course for me was the short par 3 13th. As Dick Wilsons homage to Augusta 12, it’s a very skinny diagonal green, but surrounded by deep bunkers instead of water short.

Gary Woodland was out there a few groups behind us. Was temped to steal his US Open 3 wood that was displayed in the clubhouse.

Only a couple of other photos to add to this. The course logo is so good. One of the original cartoonist for the Blondie comic strip sketched the logo on a napkin in 1961. A golfer stuck behind a pine tree in the middle of the fairway on the 12th hole.

The original pine tree is gone, but there is a replacement standing guard.

I wish I’d taken a photo of the 16th tee box, a par 5 that plays 660 yards from the tips. Mike told us that Sam Snead used to bet new members $25 they couldn’t hit a wedge from one end of the box to the other. The box was legitimately longer than the adjacent 125yd par 3 from Bryan’s post.

Didn’t play there this week, but did about four weeks ago, and wanted to share a few more pictures of Tobacco Road:

If you get a chance, and have three buddies with whom you’re “close,” I recommend booking a stay in the Stewart Cabin.

Had the pleasure of teeing it up with @dshaddy, @bogeytax, and @LiveAdam today at the mysterious Club Adena in Ocala, Florida.

Adena has an interesting history, having opened to rave reviews in 2015 and then closing abruptly in 2018, reportedly due to a legal dispute between the developer, Canadian auto parts magnate Frank Stronach and his daughter.

It’s great that the course and club is back open again because it’s a really interesting and fun test, with some wild holes snaking around an old quarry.

The first hole puts you right in the action, daring you to hit driver (because we don’t lay up).

Yes, that’s a huge waterfall.

There is a 747 yard par five at Adena. We were taking it easy so we just played from 616
