I played Arcadia Bluffs with my FIL this past weekend as a belated Father’s Day gift. The course is tough, but so much fun. I was pretty exhausted after the round.
Arcadia Bluffs kind of looks like Chambers Bay, but with carts.
I was genuinely surprised at the amount of elevation change at Arcadia. I saw one dude walking, but carts felt most necessary
If anyone has played both, I’d love to hear a comparison
I walked at Chambers and rode at Arcadia. I would agree that it would be a very tough walk.
That being said Chambers is in another league. Way more fun imo.
These cross bunkers are sweet, is this a par 4 or 5?
Cherokee CC - Donald Ross in Knoxville, TN
Limited to one photo per post so here an image of the shared double green for holes 11 and 15
Some of the most fun I’ve ever had with the flatstick. Prichard did a great job with the restoration in the 2000s to bring back the Ross charm. I’ve linked an old Golf Club Atlas article [here] a great read! (Threlkeld, Mike – Cherokee Country Club - Golf Club Atlas)
Played this morning at Plum Brook GC in Sterling Heights, MI. Two miles from my house. For <$40 walking on a weekday or weekend, you probably won’t find a set of greens in better shape. They are pure. It’s a shortish (6200 from the tips) parkland course but with a good variety of holes.
I shot a +3, 74. My best round in 20 years. It was a beautiful morning and we played in 3:19 w a foursome. Pace of play helped me stay in a great rhythm. Hit 13 greens (which I don’t think I’ve ever done before #YOTBisforever). It was a total shot of adrenaline in my already golf obsessed brain. Great day but I always forget to take pictures…
Birdsfoot, Western Pennsylvania.
One of the best $42 I’ve spent on golf. Rolling hills and terrain, great greens and a fair test. Staff was great and so supportive of us strapping up and walking. The fact I was from FL spread through the staff and everyone came to check and make sure I was ok with the hills! Perfect morning and worth getting up early. A hidden gem.
Thanks for posting! Excited for the Incline Club event there in August. I’ve not played there in about 20 years. I don’t remember that being an easy walk, impressive!
Another Western PA course to share! My wife gets the summers off and decided this year to take a cushy summer job and I suggested some local clubs in the area to possibly get out to play. She got onto the staff at St. Clair CC and we went out Monday evening and played their championship course before dark!
Fortunate enough to get an invite recently onto Kingsley Club. Amazing place, track and vibe. The Tourist Sauce episode was fantastic but even that doesn’t do this place justice.
psssssssssssst.
Technical difficulties. Re-teeing
Par 4
Place looks so god damn good!
Well got probably one of my best experiences in my time playing golf yesterday, got to spend a day at the Olympic Club. Didn’t get to play the Lake course (Gil Hanse is doing some provocative things it looked like) but had an awesome experience on the Ocean and the Cliffs courses. The history of the club is nuts, and it’s awesome seeing how much stuff they have in the locker room. The overall vibe in the middle of San Francisco with everything bustling around you and the great views is sick too. Was nice wearing a hoodie again too.
My disdain for carts has extended to all four wheeled vehicles @OffTheDole
I actually just dropped my car off for some scheduled maintenance a couple miles from the course. The uphill ride on my wife’s bike really got everything pumping. I played Paradise Hills on ABQ’s west side and if not for my first quad in a long time, it was a pretty solid round. The greens have a lot more undulation and slope than where I usually play, leading to two embarrassing three putts Also had the pleasure of topping a drive and a fairway wood on two separate par 5s, only to get down in three for par from 225 and 260 yards. Very cool, easy game.
