Heavens no.

…but really I hit a rather poor pull and it landed in the kikuya and didn’t go anywhere.

Guessing it made it up top in the left rough
Probably my favorite greens I’ve played; not sure if you’ve played Wild Horse, but reminded me somewhat of those greens, just cranked up to 11.
The only “knock” I would have is that it seemed like it could be incredibly penal OTT. The Gunch was so thick it wasn’t even worth looking for a ball in it, and while there are a few of those fairways that are decently generous, some of them are tight, and could make it difficult to even get off the box.
It had also been a pretty wet summer, from what we were told.
I have played Wild Horse and I think it’s the best value in America of what I’ve played.
My trip out to PD was wen the gunch was a little thinned out. That’s probably the perfect way to play it. Definitely agree that is could be a slog if the gunch is an auto lost ball.
As a Kansas plains golfer I thought it was way more generous off the tee than I feared it would be. Not to say that it is not penal and tough ott Both of my usual home courses are identical in a ball 10 yards off the tee is generally gone and not worth 5 seconds of looking. I do wish it was more practical to manage some of the native areas to make them somewhat playable but that’s just not realistic in the summer here. We and PD do a lot of burning to get ready for the next season but if we get timely spring and summer rains it gets thick lol.
Yeah, the real secret is to play right after the burning!
It’s the same reason my handicap hits its lows in fall here before posting season closes haha. Can get away with a questionable driver when everything’s dead lol
I got my first taste of links golf and I can’t wait to go back. It started out with a bang too.
Fresh off a red eye to Edinburgh. Took a train and bus to St Andrews, where @Tfields19 (not active) and I got very lucky and got on through the open ballot.
We played in very Scottish conditions. 15-20mph winds and rained 2-8. But my caddie helped me pick lines and helped my 14 hcp ass around this awesome course.
The next day explored Edinburgh and then on Friday played the most fun round of golf I think I’ve ever had.
North Berwick Golf Club
Similar conditions to St Andrews but less rain. The whole East Lothian region is in a drought so perfect firm conditions. I didn’t play my best but had so much fun trying to hit the shots. The back 9 plus 8&9 are just so damn fun.
Final day of our long weekend trip to Scotland We decided to add a local course after walking by it one morning because there we nothing to do in Dunbar.
Making it a 36 hole day but for only 50 GBP it was hard to say no to more links golf.
Winterfield golf club
It’s only 5100 yards but with 8 par 3s shortest is only 128 and 4 of them over 200 yards. Lots of fun short 4s too.
@Randy We may have found the best opening tee ball bench for you to have coffee at .
2 green
6 par 4 320 yard. Fairway
14 green looking out to Bass Rock
16 green. Par 3 224 yards.
18 hole
Unbelievable deal. It’s a 1/5 of the price .of any course we played and it’s still a fun plotting your way around.
Great back nine at Winterfield. ![]()
The back end of our 36 hole day
Dunbar Golf Club
The worst weather of the rounds we had. Peaking with steady rain with 30 mph gusts. But the back 9 down wind i found the slot with 3 wood hitting it over 300 yards a few times thanks to the firm conditions. Firing a back 9 40 with a double on 18 really cost me posting a personal best 9 holes.
I didn’t take hardly any pics cause it started raining on hole 4 and rained the entire rest of the round…
Two days at the Prairie Club Monday and Tuesday. Lucked out big time with the weather, day one overcast and cool but no rain, day two on the Dunes was a bluebird day in the 80’s, 5-10mph winds mostly in the afternoon.
Plays Cabot Cliffs with my wife and parents and The Nest with my old man.
The Nest under the lights was very cool, and much more difficult than I expected it to be. Fun track to get out and dick around on and hit some extremely wild shots. I putted on the last from 110 yards and put it to 10 feet. It took 30 seconds to get down to the bottom and we only realized how good it was as we were walking to the green and realized there was an extra ball on the green.
Cliffs was very fun. Scenery is spectacular and our guy Dave didn’t lead us astray. Definitely glad we had him as there were a ton of blind shots. Only “disappointing” thing was most of the best shots I hit were blind. He told me how far and where to hit it, and I was fortunate to be executing and had a pile of great looks. We played 6200 yards and I just ripped 2 irons off all the tees and had a great time. Highlight was hitting a 6 iron to 15 feet off the tee on 17 as the sun was setting. Very beautiful property, though it’d be tough to swallow full rack rate (we played twighlight which was a somewhat more reasonable $350). Awesome to experience it with my wife and parents (shoutout my dad who got me into golf at 3).

After two years of “some day,” I finally got to play Camargo today, and even with aerated greens it absolutely exceeded expectations. What a club/golf course!
I drove it as well as I think I ever have over 18 holes, but putting was tough. still a 10/10 day. Actually hit the shot you need to off the right mount on the Redan after asking my host for a photo, which was an absolute thrill and delight, even three putting after!
Quick buddies to Kansas/Missouri. Caught some glorious fall weather.
Stayed on property at Wolf Creek for 3 nights and a quick field trip to Lawrence CC on Saturday. The vibes and hang at Wolf Creek are 10/10 - “No Bad Days” is the slogan. The golf course is solid but not great. Lawrence CC needs to get rid of about 1000 trees to do Perry Maxwell justice. It’s got so much potential to be tremendous.
After 7 years of living in Bluffton, I finally made it over to Haig Point with @hwb, @dclthomas, and @UpanddownMike this past weekend—and it did not disappoint!
For those unfamiliar, Haig Point sits on Daufuskie Island, which is only accessible by ferry from Hilton Head. Several holes run right along the Calibogue Sound with great views of the Harbour Town Lighthouse.
The course itself was in great shape and had some of the best-conditioned greens I’ve played on this year. One of the coolest features? Both the 8th and 17th holes (par 3s) have alternate greens, giving the course a unique 20-hole layout.
If you’re planning a Hilton Head vacation I’d highly recommend making the trip over to Daufuskie to check it out!
Did blow pig finally pay them for damages he caused? Locker fixed?
