Where did you play this week? (Part 2)

And here I am, just thinking about 5 and 6. So good

Played Loch Lomond Golf Club last week. It gets better with every visit.

Appleby golf club in Northwest England / Lake District.

Sheep central. Green fee is 50£, but apparently asking to be paired up with a member means you’re now a guest, so I paid £30.

LACC and Riviera - what a trip

Of course no pictures at LACC that I can share, but suffice to say it’s spectacular. Everything that makes golf truly great.

Was so cool to experience every bit of it. We all went for 6, birdie’ing some big boy holes, and getting hands caught in the cookie jar on others, just an all time day.

I didn’t think that Riviera would be a second thought but after LACC it was.

But Riv rules, was awesome to see so many holes you’ve become familiar with. Going for and birdie’ing 10 was the highlight, that green is so impossibly narrow it’s hard to describe.

Also, kikuyu grass sucks.

Damn, so incredibly jealous! Riv is in my top 3.

Two of the finest courses I have ever walked on. But walking them is all I have done.

Looks like a great trip.

Also need to shout out @notjk for chipping off the green on 12 at LACC to get over a section of rough/bunker getting in his way to the hole. Caddies and our host all watching very closely. Aspirational stuff

Obsessed w/ the subtle “old money” distinction of Waverley CC as if the initiation fee isn’t north of $80k lol

Hey man, I just look at golf courses… I have no idea what most club atmospheres are like until I get there lmao. No wonder they can afford to put out fridges of uncrustables, cookies, cheeses, and Arnold palmers on each 9!

Absolutely no hate from me, I love it! Lol, how did you get on? Know a member?

Both are great. I am biased towards Riv. Feel the shot values are better there. But hard to argue against someone liking LACC N more. Great location, clubhouse, etc.

Also, kikuyu is certainly something. Once you’ve played on it a bunch it has its upsides, but certainly has some downsides too. Kikuyu is the best fairway grass to hit off in the world when it’s in perfect shape. Not so fun to chip out of or over.

I played in US Midam qualifier at Windance CC in Gulfport Ms. Course was in really good shape

Firmly agree, incredibly good at Riv.

I just couldn’t get used to the ball not bouncing forward even an inch on pitches and chips.

LACC just was more my style, wide but not easy, strategic but not penal…unless you missed in the wrong spot. Fantastic walk, amazing par 3s of a huge variety, just loved it so much. And it’s tough because Riv was instantly into my top 5, so it certainly is a relative scale

If you ever get a chance to go back, reach out before you go and I’ll run you through how I figured out how to chip around there.

Will do! Host I was with sounds like he wants to play again, so next time I’m down there I’m certainly gonna try

Yeah growing up on a kikuyu course ruined my chipping game for a while. I was hitting open face pitches from everywhere from years and had to learn not to do that
