Pretty sure he’s still a member there. My buddy’s locker is literally right next to his, and his name is still on it so IDK
Maybe they let him back in with his LIV money. He’d been booted out back when I was there. In the 2010s.
I enjoyed the heck outta the “comfort stations,” though! And I still have the bag tag and one or two of the coin ball markers.
10 rounds between Te Arai & Tara Iti, how do you split them?
Those comfort stations are elite!
I’ve been back and forth on this in my head and I can’t land on something I really feel totally happy with.
Allowing 15 rounds it’s probably 9TI, 4TAS, 2TAN.
And I really liked Te Arai North!
First hole at Hawarden in North Wales, recently voted Welsh golf club of the year.
A great parkland track, always in good condition.
Spent a lovely few days in the chop hills with some of the RACDGNY (rack dogs). Ballyneal is as good as advertised, great golf and even better company.
You weren’t kidding, what an incredible day out there. The constant surrounds of the giant mountains in almost every direction had me in awe for 4 straight hours. A truly humbling human experience
Who has experience booking and playing Pasatiempo?
Got out last minute with a coworker and checked off course #75 in Montana - The Ranch Club in Missoula.
Much like my approach game today this mountain was on fire.
(Mine was just the dumpster variety)
Playing this Sunday. I’ll tell you all I can but basically I just went online and booked
Hell. Yes. I hope my travels in life bring me back. I can’t stop thinking about our entire trip in that region and how I want to explore so much more!
Did the same in 2019. Booked as a single on a random weekday as I was flying into the area for work. Got off the flight, booked it to Pasa, headed to the first tee and got paired with a ranger. Had the San Jose State team behind us (fake Spartans from my Michigan State pov) which was cool to see. Great experience, welcoming club.
As above. Been a few years but I have played twice as a single on trips to the area. Just booked online and showed up. Once I was first off and after a few holes a member joined me, which was fun. The second time I played in the afternoon with another tourist. Somehow despite a beautiful day and a midafternoon tee time, it was just the two of us.
Price tag is big but it is easy enough to book and show up.
Yeah, I should add that I played in 2021 but didn’t book it myself. Think the price has gone up $100 since then ![]()
Yeah, post-reno public fee (w/cart?) is $425.
I think that was a probable and acknowledged result after all 18 renovated greens (and some fairway rehab) were completed.
I don’t however know what the accompanied guest rate is. Or if we all may know (and can share!) of any members that would welcome a fellow refugee.
Planning on playing for the first time on my 50th this year, late October.
If you get a cart, its $470 just an FYI. It is an easy walk though.
I saw your post when we were on our way Ballyneal. I can’t believe how awesome Ballyneal is. The 7th and 8th green are just incredible. I looked forward to every hole as there seemed to be an interesting challenge either on the tee shot or the approach.
Weather was great, course plays insanely firm and fast, I played well, all matches came down to 18, and company was excellent. I hope I can come back again ![]()
7th green - huge kicker left to feed balls close. But a bunker that cuts in from the right.
8th green looking back - it’s a uphill green with a sort of punch bowl at the back ![]()
Really tough to pick a favorite out there, especially with all the different teeing options, but 7 and 8 definitely stood out. 13 too with the super deep center line bunker.
Ballyneal was incredible, can’t wait to play there again. The whole place rocks
