Elite 2-day run at Sleepy Hollow and Essex CCC for the ClubTFE event. Felt like golf heaven for a couple days
Your friend looks like he needs to work on his hydration
He certainly doesn’t, mfer stops to piss every 6 holes
Saw it last year from a distance while at the prairie club, looks truly incredible
I was fortunate enough to play it a couple years ago and the way I described it was that it was taking the best parts of both courses at Prairie Club and combining them into a single course.
Looks incredible, playing Wednesday! Any tips?
Was reminded by the starter right before I teed off about the elevation the course was at,10% give or take increase. Helped explain the distances I saw the ball flying on the range (well that and that I play 12+ year old irons so the rental set of current era irons all have jacked lofts). Play with zero expectations and soak up the views!
Awesome, will be in the same exact boat lol
It’s the prairie club with even less play and closer to the gourge correct?
I would have zero shame slurping my way onto that course lol
Really want to see and play Banff Spring again.
Pretty mindblowing three days about ninety minutes north of Auckland this weekend.
Started on Te Arai (North)
Then a golden hour lap of South.
Followed by a couple of days at Tara Iti. That course is as good as golf gets.
Played The Estancia Club in Scottsdale AZ with my buddy and son the other day (shout out to The Faz).
Lake View Golf & CC
Chariton, Iowa
Designed by Willie Dunn Jr
An Iowa course with ties to Shinnecock? This small town 9er has old school pedigree. I got deep in the archives and found an old Chariton Herald newspaper article seemingly confirming Dunns work (link below). This lead me to DNR historical aerials dating back to 1930s. The course appears to be largely unchanged. The routing is the same and uses the upper hills and valleys down to the lake in varied ways. Would have been easy to just have ups and downs or back and forths like so many small town courses do, but the topography is different on every hole. My favorite use was the “shared green” on 1 and 7. They are different pars and divided by a ridge canting their slopes opposite directions. Per usual trees have thinned corridors and reduced THE LAKE VIEWS and playing options. Biggest tree issue is on the short 9th finisher. Currently its a 200+ shot out right and wedge in, or a blind high driver over trees and water (with a clubhouse backstop the Tour would be proud of). If the trees left of the fairway were removed it could be one of the best risk/reward par 4s in the state. 7 greens look original, small circles mainly back to front sloped. 3 green was moved 20 yards up to build a maintenance shed. 8 green was moved away from 9 tee and to possibly reduce the blindness of the uphill par 3. My favorite hole was the short punchbowl par 3 5th over the lily pad cove. A do or don’t shot with cool views up to 1 and 7 green that feels like an L & M. It looks like the dirt dug for the green was used up the hill for the back of 7. A very fun course that jumps in my top 5 Iowa 9ers.
Becoming ungovernable, and posting the quasi-heater I got to go on from mid July til this weekend.
Started pre-Ope at Erin Hills with 15 other Refugees. Was the golf awesome? Yes. Was the walk with @Bnankivil @bignanski and @ThatDuffGuyPat better? Yes.
Followed it with The Ope. Lawsonia Links remains truly special, and The Ope holds a special place in my heart. @midwestgolfbum and @Battisstatus made my dreams come true and let me and my STMBRTHR bother them for a few hours around the Links and it was the highlight round of my year.
During my au revoir to Oklahoma, I finally was able to get out at Southern Hills. Growing up in Tulsa may have me biased, but it’s probably my favorite place I’ve ever played golf in the states.
With our move behind us, the first order of business back in NC was get out to Tobacco Road. Being able to spend the day with my BRTHR @Aham13 out there was unbelievable. Instant smile any time I think about.
Work takes me to New England 1-2 times a year, and an annual appointment to beat up on Inferior Pat at Cape Arundel. George W heard I gave up 5 strokes and won 3&2 and had to come out after the round to thank me.
Closed it out at Triggs Memorial in Providence, RI and caught perfect weather, a delightful public Ross, and 2 Massholes out of central casting that couldn’t stop making me giggle.
I’m gonna go find a shitty muni to level things out this weekend.
One of a few courses to… kick Bubba Watson out. ![]()
