Well at least they were nice and told you to go play elsewhere
“Sorry, you can’t travel a quarter of a way across the world (for @RyMo ) to play the course you really want to, but we would love to still take your money at that courses cool little brother”
The marched countless media personalities out there parroting the same line of “so good, everyone should play it once”.
Then the second a public option opened they closed the gates.
This was actually last week, but had a chance to do something funny so naturally I took advantage. Over 4 days I unexpectedly (until the last day) played 4 rounds in 4 different states. Starting with our Electric Phactory major The Steeplechase at Jeffersonville Golf Club (PA ) on Saturday.
Then on Sunday I ended up sneaking into a last minute fourball up at Knollwood CC (NY) with @HibernatingBear and a couple other rack dogs.
Monday I took advantage of caddie play day at Wilmington CC North (DE) and it was after I got home I realized I had been all over the place and might as well play in Jersey to finish things out, so talked a buddy of mine into heading up to Hopewell Valley GC (NJ) Tuesday.
Moral of the story: being single with no kids has its advantages.
That is one of the worst photos of Knollwood I’ve ever seen someone take! So bad it took me a double take to even figure out what hole that was. Hahaha
Hahah sorry it certainly doesn’t do the course justice, but was one of the only pics I took last week. This one of 18 from earlier in the year is much easier on the eyes
Travel international just to play the local public course?
I hear it’s basically a public park on sundays!
Looks good to me.
Had a fun back to back weekend.
Played under Oakland university R&S Scharf course yesterday. Consistently one of my favorite courses locally here. Always in killer shape and always a ton of fun. Has one of my favorite 18th holes (even if it consistently eats my lunch)
Flip to today, met up with some of my favorite nesticles to play Pontiac country club. First time out seeing it, despite living about 20 minutes from it and working less than 5 from it. I think it’s the perfect encapsulation of a muni course. Cheap (35 bucks walking on the weekend) not a difficult, yet fun routing, and just incredibly old school and unpretentious. A little rough around the edges but that was part of the charm.
Also, shout out to sugar nuts

class. must be a salesman.
I put the ass in class and the ale in salesman. That’s why I can successfully sell DZ
That place is stuck in a time warp of sorts and I love it.
