I had spicy chimichangas in honor of @spicychimis win.
Enjoyed y’all’s company, we had a really fun time out there. I need to go see what the Browns bus is all about up there and play some Midwest fall golf!

It’s pretty impressive to end up with a swing and game like yours without playing high school or college golf. I’m a little shook.
I had to hit the road right away after and didn’t get to do my favorite post round game over beers - I’ll ask here.
Questions for everyone - What was your favorite shot you hit at aguila? What was the best shot you saw someone hit?
For me - my favorite shot was my tee shot on 16 of the morning round. 7 iron 170 yards into the wind. I didn’t actually hit it that close, only to about 20 feet pin high to the right, but it was the most flush Iron shot I’ve hit in years. Very rewarding feeling after being totally lost with my irons basically all winter and putting in range work to improve it.
Favorite shot I saw - (TIE)
@wiz reloading on 17 and driving the green, pin high to 15 feet. Nearly made the putt too. Would have been the best par in the history of the universe.
@GeneralTSo absolutely flushing it out of the fairway bunker to the middle of the green from 170 yards on 18. Absolutely fearless swing after struggling a bit in the bunkers all day. I let out a “Holy SHIT” when he made contact.

Thanks buddy - echo your sentiments on yours and @wiz shots. Some premium ball striking over those past few holes
One of the best shots of the whole day
Have to say my favorite shot that I saw was @JosieWon’s 3W into the drivable par 4 8th (from the tips!). Absolutely textbook soft baby-fade to pin high. Beautiful stuff.
My favorite shot I hit had to be the 68yd flop shot over the trees on hole 15 of the par 3 course. Of course @spicychimis drained the 8-footer for par.
I hit a pretty sick stinger with my two iron on the range
Too many to choose from as many of you flashed at points throughout the day, but @StatGuy and @Waffles both driving eight green sticks out. I also think Dom caddying or being a teammate is worth quite a handful shots. Seeing him Sherpa @arturojvj and Arturo executing the shots was a joy to watch.
We’re going to gloss over why you were hitting a 68 yard flop over a tree as a second shot on a par 3. helluva shot by you though
My favorite shot I saw was @RolandOfGilead recovery shot on, I think, 16 of the short course. I all but shanked a half wedge right of the green and he somehow manages to hit a 56 degree wedge under two trees, to an elevated green, land it on top of the hill, and have it run out to six feet. Truly artful stuff.
My favorite shot I hit was a 7w on the second par 5 from about 220. It was a little 5 yard draw that hit maybe fifteen feet below the hole and rolled out to about 10ish feet behind the hole. I thought I was making 2 watching it role. Missed the eagle putt on the high edge, but made a comfy birdie. Quite possibly the best golf shot I’ve ever hit.
That putt was so sick and your super early call made it all the better. Was one of the many times that day I enjoyed the shit out of getting my ass kicked.
I’ll give you two:
Chippy cut driver on #8 to 18 feet. Completely bricked the eagle putt though.
Missed a (not counting) hole in one by inches on #7 of the short course. Not counting because it’s a short course and my Cleveland 588 lob wedge is definitely illegal.
@GolfGuyRN striping his 7 wood to 10 feet on #5. Only surpassed by his pump fake backswing before burying the birdie putt on #17 at the short course. That cracked me up.
What a day. Really appreciate the effort that goes into getting all of us together, something I really look forward to every year. Good to meet @Woodsy24, even though it wasn’t our day. Cool to have you out for a roost event.
Best shot I hit was on 4 (a hole that always has my number). Tee shot went right into the hard pan/bushes where the fairway runs out. Had to take an unplayable which barely got me out in the clear, still had some bushes/overhanging trees to navigate. Hit a cut 5 iron off hard pan to 25 feet and a nice 2 putt bogey to feel like I came out of there more or less unscathed.
A couple moments I enjoyed was watching @RolandOfGilead almost back up an ace on 7 of the short course, and @KMola14 absolutely roast a driving iron on 17 of the big course. That contact got an audible “wow” from me, was sensual. Hit it probably 250 ish in the air. Perfect spot.
Fun day. See you guys next year, hopefully sooner. Tumbleweed has some serious momentum right now!
That putter head was in a true “yeah, but this is my shooting hand” situation.
Another not top 10 moment was my attempted 5w on hole 2 that had to have looked like a fat boy doing an interpretive ballet move. I think @KAShelton was a little disappointed he didn’t actually get to witness two blown ACLs in the same play.
Also, overall highlight of the day for me has to be the entire group cheering for the lady in front of us hitting her hybrid to 10 feet on the first hole of the par 3 course.
I think this event has solidified itself as my favorite golf event I’ve attended.
The vibes at the tumbleweed are legitimately on par with or better than the NIT
Also also :
Shoutout @llowrey22 who I met before the round - this was his first ever roost event, hadn’t even played a round with any of you yet. I hope you had a blast (Looked like you did!)
Welcome to the group, I think the dry heat guys are the exact type of sickos you are looking for.
Top shots of the Aguila round had to be the double feature from @samba24 and @ComfyDouble I witnessed within 30 seconds of each other on the Par 5 15th hole.
Sam peeled a juicy 230yd 4-iron to that back right pin to set up a solid look at eagle from ~15ft.
At the same time, Ben was pitching out sideways from the shit and then rocked up to the ball in the fairway to hit a similarly juicy fade from 240 and stuffed it to ~5ft for birdie.
I couldn’t tell you how that hole ended up for them because I blacked out and carded a triple trying to play out of the brush, but the 1-2 punch of those shots was something to behold.
What a weekend. As far as favortite shots go. For myself, I’m not even sure what hole it was now in the morning round, I yanked a drive into the trees, we find it, I go in there to take a look and @wiz tells @jsg_nado and @GeneralTSo heads up cuz im probably pitched out. I reply with Nope I’m going for it, and process to hit an 8 iron under and over some trees to the front of the green. And favorite shot I saw, maybe not the best shot but the first time through the short course on the 50 yard hole our group got to witness 2 of the all time shots by @KAShelton @Chewy IYKYK
