Scoring We will use the Unknown Golf platform for live and official scoring. Create a free account here LINK. I registered everyone with their GHIN #s so be sure to use the same email and/or enter your GHIN # when registering to be synced with the event. Scorecards will have QR codes that direct you to scoring, but install the app ahead of time to make things easy.

Stakes

  • The winning team gets possession of the best trophy in amateur golf.
  • This is the Dry Heat Golf Club major, and we have one Nest Invitational Tournament spot on the line. The winning team will have the choice of which player receives the NIT berth - availability, low net score, clutch shot(s) during the alternate shot sessions, etc. are all valid criteria, and you have to justify the choice to absolutely no one.
  • One spot on this year’s Dry Heat GC regional team will go to the Event King. Points for this race come from our events: the Utah Golf Event (completed), the Tumbleweed Two Ball, and the Chile Pepper Classic (Albuquerque, April 27). Since the Event King is an individual race, points will be allocated based on results of the 18 hole stroke play session only. The low net will receive 50 points, second play will get 35, and so on down to 10 points for all participants. Honestly I haven’t worked this out but will update the standings next week.

Prizes

  • $75 NLU pro shop credit: winning team member who does not take the NIT spot
  • Choice of one free year’s Nest member fees or $50 NLU pro shop credit: low gross score in the 18 hole session
  • Second choice above: low net in the 18 hole session
  • Low alternate shot team, first and second nines: choice of assorted Titleist gear

I think that’s most of it - feel free to chime in for any clarification or details I may have missed.

And here I came to Arizona promising myself not to let my jimmies get rustled. You’re not a defending champ on accident

As the other one I should add I spent 1996 living in Ann Arbor. That stadium, Woodson, Griese, all so incredible. The pomp is not only justified, but might be underselling it!

It appears I should have packed Sparty gear and not Tech stuff for this trip.

Just wanted to drop in and thank the Dry Heat GC guis for being excellent hosts and putting on an A+ event. Thanks to all who are responsible for making it happen and giving me a chance to touch grass for the time in four months.

Not sure I’ve ever had more fun getting absolutely buried in a match than with @TheSwimmingPool and @andrewxschneider Saturday at GCU. Can’t think of a better way to shake off the winter rust than on a walk with you guys.

The Tumbleweed itself was a vibe. It was a blast to watch @JosieWon move the ball around the yard. Still not quite sure where all that speed comes from. Couldn’t have asked for a better partner and sherpa. I hope that Cute Boi Open koozie brings you as many low rounds as weird looks it’s sure to garner.

Congrats to @spicychimis and @tristansipe on taking home golf’s best trophy. Outstanding playing partners in the morning and a terror on the short course in the afternoon. Props to Tristan for keeping Steve focused—on the drive home, I told him he needs to hire you as a mental coach; never seen him more locked in. If you lived in Ohio, Steve might be scratch. Something to think about.

What struck me last night… How sick is it we can travel anywhere in the country (and Canada and the UK and a bunch of other exotic locales, too), post a message like this, and find a good game with great dudes? The absolute sickest. The Refuge / Nest / Roosts /WhateverItsCalled remains undefeated. Looking forward to next year’s Tumbleweed—assuming you’ll have us back—and maybe a round or two between now and then if paths cross.

If y’all ever find yourself in northern Ohio, make sure to hit up @spicychimis and I so we can return the warm welcome we received this weekend.

We will gladly have you two back, and be sure to convince more northerners to head down next year. Preliminary plans are to expand the field to 40, and I would guess the event date as Sunday, March 8, 2026.

The final group realizing on 18 tee that we were all out of it because they blitzed the field on the short course and the leaderboard wouldn’t update

@GolfGuyRN almost did it too!

On the 18th tee it was something like +10, +10, +12 and +12. Very spicy finish except the leaders already had it wrapped:

Can confirm that neither @spicychimis nor I had any clue what was happening until the 18th tee box as well.

I don’t know if Steve and I could’ve hamandegged any harder. Many stress free pars and many not-very-stress-free-pars.

First competitive golf day of my life and I couldn’t have asked for a better partner than @spicychimis. An absolute menace with the flatstick.

First, I want to echo everything @cussingmussel said.

Thanks to everyone for being awesome and welcoming. Had such a great time all weekend. I’ve still yet to have a bad time at a roost event. Special shoutout to @tristansipe for golfing the shit out of his ball in the morning, especially on the back 9, and then being the best Sherpa for all 18 holes of alt shot. He really carried us. He kept me focused and his help reading the greens was immense. As he and @cussingmussel and @JosieWon can attest to, it was pretty clear in the morning round that I couldn’t read a green on my own. Tristan also saved us after I had several skanky chunks/shanks off the tee and he just wedged it to very makeable range. I was just glad to get the driver out of my hands for the afternoon. Couldn’t have asked for a better partner. Hope you go crush shit at the NIT this fall.

Thanks to @RolandOfGilead and everyone else who had a hand in putting this together. Thanks to everyone for letting a couple Cleveland boys come and crash your major. Such a fun event with an awesome format. Hope to see everyone next year, if not before.

“Fuck it, just send it into the sunset” was my last thought before I hit it. :joy:

Had no idea how good it actually was until we walked up there.

Was an absolute pleasure of a walk around GCU with y’all on Saturday. I couldn’t have asked for a better first ever AZ round and playing partners. Here are a couple of souvenirs to take home with y’all from the GCU round, and may @spicychimis ’ sweet sweet 7 wood live on forever.
