Trap Draw: Chicago

Yes this is an accurate pizza take from this local. There are solid thin crust options they just aren’t famous. The pizza “casserole” is for a time and place, just like Gene & Georgetti’s. Actually scratch that I would go to Gene & Georgetti’s every day if I could.

For a Cards fan, I admire your restraint. You gotta find the right fans, they are out there among the meatballs. The Sox are criminally under-represented both on thIs pod in the city and across the country.

I’m pretty sure the Business Platinum offers Global Entry fee waivers for authorized users.

You got to do this for me. Huge. Quickly.

I definitely agree the Sox are criminally under represented. I have always held them in much higher regards bc you really have to want to be a Sox fan if you live in Chicago. It has always been an easy draw for the Cubs for new transplants to the city. Prior to more recent years, expectations were low year after year or non existent. It’s generally a great series during non Covid times when the Cards and Cubs play. All said, I definitely like the city and people of Chicago. And it is a great eating town.

Great spot, The Office when it first opened was my favorite place in the city.

Michael Jordan’s Steakhouse in the InterCon Hotel on Michigan Ave. - Underrated great steakhouse

150 North Riverside Plaza Great New Building. Wrigley and Tribune Towers, best classic skyscrapers.

Half Acre or Revolution?

Tough crowd.

I think we’ve talked about it before, but I’ve always had good experiences there. Admittedly haven’t been in probably three or four years.

I would agree the goat dishes are not always a hit, but the meat dishes (pig face), fish (branzino, hammachi crudo), veggies (shisito peppers, cauliflower), and bread I always enjoyed. And it has a great vibe.

Yeah. Egg on my face there. Too much jaeger at Shananigans and Mothers I guess. I swear nobody has Malort in the 90s. Even a native son learns something new about his hometown

Can I ask why you hold Alinea in that regard and still went to AIR?

+1 on Blackbird

I didn’t get to enjoy Prairie School but I vote for Bucket O Suds

That’s a good one! I worked with John and Karen at Charlie Trotter’s, so I have to agree with that shoutout.

I worked at alinea for 3 years from the opening. I feel the restaurant has gone off the rails a bit from its original philosophy. Which is fine! But I feel now that it’s too expensive for what it is at AIR. We went to AIR on an invite, and just felt the price was too steep for what we got. In addition to the atmosphere and space. Food was beautiful and delicious, as always. But not for the atmosphere and price.

Chicago and the Chicagoland area has some great mexican food too. That should not be overlooked. Plenty of outstanding Taquerias.
