Haven’t seen Dave in forever. New 2021 goal: Watch Dave.
Hearing @Tron finally wants to watch the Sopranos
I watched that on a rainy day this year after having it on my list for a while thanks to the Community parody episode. I also considered bailing a few times. Not something I think I ever care to watch again, but by the end I was glad I stuck it out.
Band of Brothers is very good as well!
Simply calling Band of Brothers very good is way underselling it!
Watching Dave today is like watching politics in a different galaxy. Same with anything from that era - American President, West Wing, etc, etc.
I’m a big fan of making goals, I always write them down so I can look at them every few months. Here are my 2021 goals since some people are sharing!
Health: Pick up Yoga
Drink more water
Get good sleep.
I’m on week 2 of my Whoop and I feel like it’s already holding me a bit accountable which is awesome. (S/O TrapDraw for the PromoCode)
Golf: Play more Golf (I played around 25 rounds this year which is the most I have played in years)
Hang around a 4.0 Handicap
Make 100 birdies (I really liked @Randy coming up with this, I will keep track of mine as well).
Qualify for the NIT…duh
General: Read a book a month (I started McConaughey’s book last week and am almost done!)
Volunteer more (There are so many people less fortunate than us, it feels so damn good to give back!)
Compliment More, Complain Less
To say I love Band of Brothers is a understatement. It basically kickstarted my deep interest in World War II. The ending gets to the me every time knowing only a handful of that company (I think like 5 or 6) are left
You look younger than that. I’m shook right now.
I was recently getting back in to The West Wing. It really is wild thinking about the contrast.
You listen to the podcast with Joshua Malina and Hrishikesh Hirway? West Wing Weekly?
Nah. Didn’t even know that existed but I’m maxed on my podcasts right now.
Goals:
Physical: lose 15lbs
Personal: Be more present (great one - I’m stealing from 2020 @Soly)
Golf: Turn my son into a golfing robot like Earl Woods. That, or shave two strokes off my handicap.
Man I’m all ears here. Need something to hold me accountable. It’s 9:23 and I’m about to stretch thanks to seeing this alert.
Fairly basic, but I have daily Google Calendar reminder to foam roll for 5 minutes every day. I have it set for 3:30 PM since I usually go for a run around noon, but will move it around if I have other stuff going on. That’s less for what actual stretching to do and more of a bump to get you out of the desk chair.
Coincidentally before I listened to the pod, I was considering the year of data (shoutout the @MerchCzar) and the year of challenges, but both of those fit into the year of the process so I’m jumping on the bandwagon.
This year I’m going for 12 months with 12 monthly challenges or goals-
January’s is to not eat out all month to reignite my cooking and eat healthier.
February will be some sort of fitness challenge either whoop related or otherwise. I think setting up mini challenges each month will keep me on my toes and committed to the #process
Made some goals (and took a couple from this thread and the pod)
Golf
Get handicap down below 6 (currently 11.2 from 17 at beginning of 2020)
Round with no doubles
Shoot 75 twice (78 is current best from a round at Chambers this summer)
100 birdies (shoutout @Randy)
Personal
Read 20 books-2 down already
Cut down on screen time
Talk to Mom at least once a week
Get married (missed this one in 2020)
Exercise
Walk/run 1000 miles total
Workout at least 4 days a week
Keep up stretch/foam roll/theragun routine
Golf Goals
Spend 2hrs week practicing chipping/putting
Have GHIN be 3 or lower (currently 6.2).
Increase GIR to over 50%.
Physical Goal
Lose 20lbs
Ride min 3 times/week on Peloton (recent purchase)
Hike over 50 miles with my family
Personal Goal
Read min. 6 books this year
Complete 6 Bible studies
Meet all 2021 work goals
Simply put but not so simple…
Golf - break 80 several times (I don’t play too much so this will be a stretch. Most of my golf is played as a guest at Royal County Down so it’ll not be easy)
Physical - break 80 (kgs. Started on my way there in 2020 but Christmas put me back a bit)
Other goal - write something (I’ve had any idea for a book which I may write some of and get others to contribute to. Or my other idea is a screenplay…may need @The_Cad_Says to advice on exactly how to do that!)
