Someone needs to get @MerchCzar a subway hat. The resemblance is uncanny

Tot Hill Farm is far more polarizing than Tobacco Road, if you can believe it. Where I would guess TR has a 67% love / 33% hate ratio, THF is about the opposite. I am firmly in the love camp for both, but I know lots of people that love TR (and other Strantz work) that simply can’t stand THF.

Full disclosure: while I have always been a fan of THF since my first visit about 7 years ago, acing the 6th hole a couple of months ago has made it an even more special course for me.

I guess for the sake of #nofreeads the picture could never go public if he ever put that hat on

when i went labor day of last year and they were out of range balls by 815 am and none of the coolers on the course had water on them even though it was 95 degrees, it put me much more so on the hate side of the equation

I’d also assert that finding a connection/way onto a place like Secession is very doable. They’ve got a membership base that’s spread across the U.S., and the guise I’ve met that are members there enjoy sharing stuff about their club. It’s not exactly like trying to get into Cypress or ANGC.

Is it as easy as writing a letter to Sand Hills or Ballyneal for a one-time play? No.
Is it easier to get on/to than Tara Iti? Absolutely, for most of us.

Bring on the drone footage of that place!

I hope True Blue and Caledonia are on the list. Caledonia gets most of the accolades but I think True Blue is “better” and a lot more fun to play. Would love to see the guys debate the two head to head

That sounds like a good Tourist Sauce 5.5 idea. Play shitty courses and show the masses what makes them shitty. Would never happen, but would be entertaining af

Yeah, the hole at McCormick is very different. It’s a shortish park 4, you can reasonably hit 3 wood to the island and still just have a short iron or wedge into the green. Also as you say the island is a good bit bigger, probably 10 yards wider. It is kinda of serpentine shaped, so you have to pick a line or shot shape that works … but still, the island is 50 yards wide.

In terms of risk/reward “the Gambler” is much more like the 7th at Valhalla. Par 5 where you either play a true 3 shot hole or take on two shots with huge risk but have the opportunity to reach in two. The Valhalla hole isn’t a true island (I think it’s just native area left of the fairway). The fairway on that hole is very narrow but the grassed area is pretty wide

I’ll be disappointed if they don’t follow this that I proposed a few months ago.

I mean…this is what I am expecting now. Anything less will be a disappointment.

Would the Strapped boys look for one of the typical golf packages that includes lunch and a couple brews at each spot? My cheap buddies loved that little addition as “free” even though they paid for it in overall price.

I thought was in Charleston, not Charlotte. If they were in my hood I’d of been all stalkery.

Yeah, I think that picture was taken at D’Allesandro’s pizza in Charleston.

Man, I wonder when this will actually air though. I’m going down to Pinehurst next May, and playing Pinehurst (2, 4, Cradle), Tobacco Road, Mid Pines, Pine Needles and Southern Pines and hope to see them playing these courses in advance…

This was my first thought exactly! Hoping it means Neil got cast in a Happy Gilmore sequel…financed by NLU of course.

I just want to say - plan as much time as humanly possible in your schedule to play the Cradle. Seriously.

If I had it my way…here’s how my schedule would look:

8am - start first loop on the Cradle
10am - play a “big” course (#2, #4, etc.)
3pm - quick break for a bite to eat/drink/bathroom/Thistle Dhu
4pm - Cradle again
5pm - dinner in The Deuce
6pm to dark - Cradle until the sun sets

My biggest take away from Pinehurst this year is that short course golf > regular golf. All day.
