Kinda liking the Original Penguin clothing

Love me some Penguin! Got some sweet pants that I need to get into the rotation more, 'specially on the golf course.

Love the big guy feeling himself celebrating his putt-putt prowess

One million per cent right, @djpie. I was just playing at a future US Open venue and my foursome was discussing the Oakmonts, Merions, Winged Foots of the world. Then I said something obnoxious like “None of them matter now that I’ve played Tobacco Road.” Everyone got quiet for about 20 seconds and I said “I’m not kidding.”

This for 18 holes. Every new course built should try to be just like Tobacco Road.

I have no idea what hole you’re talking about (16 sounds exactly like what you said but uphill), but I 100% agree that every course should just try to be Tobacco Road.

RIP to @Tron’s Callaway Japan apparel scripting

Sweetens is basically a more Muted/nuanced TR in my view.

Can you explain further in the pants thread?

Those “classic” courses just seem like a bunch of long par 4s. Tobacco Road seems to have some real, true character to it.

TR, Sweetens, and Bethpage Black form a short of triad spectrum in my mind of what I want out of a golf course.

I think it was 12 or 15.

I mean…I’d play Oakmont, Merion and Winged Foot in a heart beat, but I’d also play the Lake Champlain Par 3 off mats in a heart beat. Basically, I love playing golf anywhere BUT GIVEN THE CHOICE give me Tobacco Road (and yes, I like their gas powered carts.)

I never played #3 when it was firm and fast. It was always soft, slow, and shaggy. But, if the got firm and fast with the look of #2 it would be a fun course.

Totally. 100% agree with this.

oh! it was definitely 15. I ended up on the left side of the fairway split, but if you’re on the right then yeah you’d still have a ways to descend. That’s awesome.

this is wild. How was the walk? edit: wrong thread i know, but still curious.

Absolutely incredible. Also, as we just found out in the TR thread, one of the weirdest coincidences imaginable.
