I wish I could, I actually have my lessons scheduled today. Definitely keep me in mind for any future outings, I’d love to be there.
I can literally say that about a different part of my game every time I play.
A little late to the party this week with work travel but it was such a great episode. Captured everything great about The Muni. Knowing that Pinehurst and TR are still on deck:
You going to be around over Easter? Might be too quick of a trip to make it up to play, but would love to make it work.
I should be around that weekend, stay in touch and we can check in as it gets closer
I played Thistle when the greens were trashed a few years ago. I remember a decent layout, but 27 hole courses always seem disjointed. Also remember one awful par 5 that I think forced you to hit iron off the tee and have 300+ into the green.
Really enjoyed Tidewater that weekend. Basically unwalkable because it’s in a neighborhood with very long green-to-tee commutes. Like, a 5-minute cart ride.
If you were going to play 2/3 rounds around sunset beach, no one I’m with will travel to wilmington or myrtle for the rounds, what would be the best options in everyone’s opinion?
Thistle, tigers eye
Agreed. C-suite showing mad disrespect. @djpie appeared unpleased but “took one for the team”. And, #forthecontent.
@tron sealed his fate with that slap.
Thistle (McKay 9 is the best)
Farmstead
Leopard’s chase
Oyster Bay
Avoid River’s Edge and Crow Creek
Glen Dornoch, Thistle, Oyster Bay (if in decent shape), Farmstead, Pearl West.
Can’t wait to watch the NLU crew on Pinehurst #3. As an employee have played that course too many times to count and it eats my lunch every time. Especially now that they have re-routed the course, I always seem to start bogey-bogey on the short Par 4/short Par 3 start.
#3 is the shortest hard course, man. It’s a handful. For such a short course, it has a couple of par 3’s that play 190+ from the tips. Angles are weird, greens are devilish, and there are a lot of 300-330 yard par 4’s that you walk away thinking “how’d I make bogey THERE?”
What type of cost are you looking for and what time of the year?
It’ll be july so middle of the summer, cost not so much an issue, unless we are talking like 150 or 200 but even then if it’s nice enough I’m okay with it. More want to stay close to Sunset and play good golf. So the best courses in that area, and for that time of the year also.
Feel this deeply. Hit every tee shot pure yesterday and could not for the life of me hit a second shot.
Love the Par 6 at Farmstead.
@MerchCzar Is the Original Penguin 30% off deal still active? I signed up for the email list but never received a confirmation.
Thought it would be a huge gimmick when I first heard about it, actually works well.
Guy in the shop told me a PGA Tour pro, I can’t remember who but a big hitter, hit that green in 2
