Tourist Sauce S9 - Who will be the golf daddy?

I was sticking with the core crew and the hobbits, I like your list though.

So is Poosh the Balrog?

I just don’t picture Bitcoin Soly being pure of heart enough to carry the ring. He’d scalp it for a NFT at his first chance.

Lake Karrinyup generally accepted as the best course in WA. Followed by Joondalup. WA has great land for golf but unfortunately not great architecture to match it.

I only know LOTR from crossword clues, so I imagine Gary Player would be an Ent.

Totally agree. Went back there for a holiday in June '23 and was walking from Cott to Freo and couldn’t stop telling my missus I wish they could go back in time and get some greedy property developer to nab some of that land. The sand based ground, slight elevation changes added in with coast would have made for something truly special.

Kennedy Bay wasn’t bad, but yeah. There should be something immaculate in WA, but there isn’t for whatever reason.

Yup, agree with all of this, as did Clayts on a couple of podcasts I’ve heard. Mentioned that the good Doctor McKenzie said we have the best dune sites, weather and conditties for golf over here, but not enough top quality courses in the right spots unfortunately.

Courses they could do here off the top of my head would be

Private - WAGC, Karrinyup, Cottesloe, Mt Lawley, Royal Fremantle.

Public - Joondalup, Seaview (9 holes but you would have seen it walking from Cott-Freo), Meadow Springs, The Cut, Kennedy Bay (redevelopment nearly finished), Sun City, Secret Harbour, Carramar, all within an hour of the CBD.

Albany & Kalgoorlie for tracks outside the metro area, but are 5 & 7 hr drives away, respectively.

Possibly closest we’ve had to this is unfortunately no longer there; Lakewood Shores/Binningup. 1.5 hrs from the CBD but a very easy drive. 9 holes, with plenty room for more. Closed during Covid, there are talks of bringing it back & adding to it. I have my fingers crossed.

Going Cabo plenty of courses. Good place to bring significant others if they make the trip. Great weather every day. Major travel location, can’t beat the weather this time of the year

Yeah, Tron is Isildur. Everyone begging him to throw the Ring into the Mountain of Fire and he ends up starting his own pro golf tour where he wins every tournament with Patrick Reed playing Wormtongue as his chief minion/toadie.

Joondalup is a masterpiece.

This may be a slightly revised take because of kangaroo interaction.

Puerto Los Cabos is siiiiiiiiiiiick

Cut those two (definitely lose Silvertip, it stinks) - add Sagebrush and maybe Predator, or one of the random less flashy options for variety. Then hit Van for sure for Shaughnessy / Capilano and across to Victoria.

Also, start with Liv North in Calgary because it would be amusing to hear the takes on the state of the place for almost fifty MILLION dollars.

Between this thread and the meme thread I have reached the conclusion that I need to watch the LOTR trilogy so I can understand what the hell people are posting about.

I could get down with that. Silvertip is an acquired taste for sure, and objectively it’s not a great course architecturally, but I enjoyed it a lot this summer (I live in Canmore). Take Stew and Tip off that list and I’d be okay with it.
