Tourist Sauce, Ireland

You never been to Bald Eagle Sportsman Association?

www.besamn.com

Just east of Oneka Ridge. Gun club, but not a game farm.

Have not. But that’s not far from Wild Wings either. St Paul gun club isn’t too far away. Have sighted rifles there.

Adare Manor is a Trump course without his name on it.

so it’s not a Trump course because he always has to have his name on everything?

This episode seemed incongruous with the rest of the season. I’d certainly love to spend a few days at Adare, but Irish golf is all about the dunes, the links, the marram grass and the wind. Can’t wait for next week at Ballybunion.

Yes.

Adare Manor is basically a Trump course without his name on it. Overly luxurious accommodations with an overly manicured golf course.

JP McManus is a more subtle and sophisticated Trump.

and Augusta is also a trump course then

(I agree with these narratives)

I mean, I likely wouldn’t go to Ireland and pay whatever a night at Adare Manor goes for. I’m sure I’d wince when I saw what dinner and drinks go for in that restaurant. The golf course, almost impossibly well maintained, looks like fun, but I’m sure the €395 would make me seek a more authentic Irish golf experience.

That said, if I was a part of a golf media company and they said I could come and do all this stuff for free, fuq with some falcons, and take home a leather journal to boot, I’d walk there like Tom Coyne if I had to.

I’m all for the NLU guys going there and checking it out. That said, I’d love to see the alternate universe eps from Trump Adare Manor and Doonbeg.

Of course not. I just wonder if they’d feel the same way about falconry had it taken place at Trump Doonbeg.

remind me again are you playing Kingsbarns in April?

My buddy played there this summer, I think he said he was stuck almost $2k for a round of golf, a night stay and food.

He said he wouldn’t play it again, something along the lines of “why play American golf in Ireland?”

I am. The fact that 20 of you guys had signed up and my FOMO made me do it.

This was one of my favorite episodes because I like when there’s a lot of off-the-course action included, and it was cool to envision the future Ryder Cup scenes on the closing holes. The score also had a Friday Night Lights episode vibe, which automatically gives me all the feels.

I think this episode fits in well with the season. As much as we all like to play the links courses of Ireland, who wouldn’t want to spend a night or two at Adare, K Club, Dromoland, etc.

@Soly explained it pretty well that a place like this does not exist in the US that is open to the public

It’s what Trump wishes his courses were.

We got this far without a mention of @TomCoyne’s swing? That’s the Barry White of golf swings.

This. I was watching the smooth rhythm. Plus for a guy my age-adjacent, he can move the ball impressively without the appearance of effort.

Of course he probably is technically a reinstated amateur and his peer group should be considered in light of that.

I love @TomCoyne’s swing.

I can’t be the only one who was reminded of this with all the aerials of Adare (Adare-ials?)
