Adare Manor didn’t do it for me. I’ve based that entirely on the 27 minutes of footage, but it didn’t grab me in the way Lahinch might.

While I concede it’s an apples to oranges comparison, Soly’s Crash Course for Notts prompted me to consider driving down from Edinburgh next summer. Adare Manor seemed like an exercise in excess.

it did it for me. I’m in love. But then again, I’m a Lucky Guy and the C-level life SUITeS me.

Don’t get me wrong, I like the nicer things in life. It’s just that I prefer old money luxury to falconry.

Why, for example, were the dogs not on the golf course? That was criminal. Those dogs would have loved to have walked 18.

I’m a sporting clays/skeet shooter too. I mean, the falconry is super interesting, but it’s a one-and-done thing. I would have shot 150-250 rounds on those gunnery courses.

Do they have clays at WBYC @GRWhitehead?

One of the things i always like playing OCC here in town is the constant echo of shotguns in the background.

Adare Manor looked awesome. Seems like the place that can make literally anything happen.

they don’t…Minikahda has skeet, but no one else offers shooting. I’ve belonged to a few private shooting clubs up here but currently not at any of them.

I’ve shot guns once, in western Pennsylvania with a friend who collects guns from classic American films, and I’d do it again.

Unless you have Penguins I’m probably out on falconry and bird endeavors. Penguins are the dictionary definition of Too Good.

I’ll take it one stage further: a round of golf with an accompanying dog and penguin represents the pinnacle of what I could enjoy in life.

There is no greater joy than putting down a winged goose up close after jumping a pond. I’m not a hateful person for the most part, but i HATE geese.

There is a range just to the north of WBYC. I used to play in leagues at a course right nearby the range. Trap or skeet leagues were usually at the same time, so it would sound like WWIII out there while you were playing.

Kill all the geese you want, just don’t shoot the penguins. Deal?

Depends on how penguins taste!

This must be a Nebraska thing. The only other person I’ve encountered who has considered such a crime against humanity is from Omaha.

Another great episode. That place looked incredible, would love to stay there someday. Definitely a place that has enough to convince the significant other to let me golf while she gets a spa treatment or something.

I was inspired by the last episode to get a Guinness and try Guinness game. Almost had a heart attack watching the bar tender pour it into a Coors glass followed by 2 bud lights into Guinness glasses.

Edit: She just did it again

That stinks, sorry to hear it. Was there any way you could play a similar game in the Coors glass?

Not unless I chug 3/4 of my beer hahaha there’ll be more Guinness in my future no worries

well why don’t you try this 6-8 times and then either:

  • you’ll get the hang of it
  • you’ll forget you’re playing and something fun will happen!

I like the way you think

No, nothing except Wild Wings a little ways north and east, and Maple Island, north of Stillwater. That said, it’s country so I know some folks with shooting ranges on private property. Both are good, and I’ve been a member of both.
