Without knowing the answer (and legitimately I don’t know; thus reflecting my status as but a bit character in the NLU multiverse), I imagine Travel Ireland (or whatever the name is of the the tourist company was that helped shape the itinerary) wanted the gang to give Doonbeg a visit. Maybe they would have been blown away! Seems like they had a lot of great things to say about the accommodations, which were obviously nice enough that Vice President Pence felt they were worth a three-hour helicopter ride each day. If a tourist organization is essentially setting up visits to a ton of great courses as part of a showcase for their country, it would seem a bit rude to be like “We’re gonna pass on this one, but if you can make Old Head work, that would be great.”
Cheese. Cheese as well.
Yea I’m a seafood whore as well. But I also value options…
The seafood chowder I got at Ashe’s in Dingle was revolutionary.
Surprisingly I hated most of the food I had in Dublin. Way out on that city. I guess the biggest issue would be lack of imported cuisine like we have in America. Need a good mix of thai, indian, mexican, etc. Pros and cons.
Last time I was in Dingle I went back to Ashe’s specifically for their seafood chowder, but they had taken it off the menu. Felt like someone had punched me in the stomach
I got literally the last bowl. They run out at the end of lunch time and that’s it for the day!
This is how I’m picturing it as well. I mean, there’s plenty of golf courses and nice accommodations in Ireland that aren’t owned by our maniac POTUS so I doubt it was a choice.
I think @MerchCzar even admitted he didn’t know it was owned by Trump until he showed up. It’s possible he’s not the only one too.
Hadn’t Soly played it before? Even if he hadn’t, he seems like the type that would have known.
Either way, Trump’s ownership is way overblown to me. I don’t care for his places, not because he owns but because they are garish AF. I don’t cheap golf plating everywhere with the “T” logo literally on everything - the carpet, the bottom of the garbage can, etc.
However, the Michelin 2* restaurant in his hotel in Chicago is freaking awesome and I would eat there again in a heart beat. Tasting menu for me an my wife. Her’s was vegetarian/vegan and she said it was the best meal of that kind she had ever had. Her dishes even looked like my meaty ones.
/Sees a political debate brewing on the Refuge/
So essentially the Trump organization said to that family “if you like your house, you can keep your house”??
/Runs away from keyboard/
In all seriousness - that was an awesome episode… although I’m still triggered by the traj on the stinger at around the 0:50 mark.
I personally don’t think it is overblown at all. If you believe Trump is a bad person and bad for this country, I believe it’s hypocritical to support his businesses.
It’s possible I’m overly pragmatic about this kind of thing, and that’s fine too.
really was a great start to the season.
I personally don’t understand the hubbub about who’s name is on the property, but am not concerned if anyone else in the world wants to avoid it. Personal choice to be offended at whatever you want.
You dig deep enough and you pretty much can’t go anywhere or support anything
20 years ago, Dublin had almost no non-European cuisine. I studied in Dublin at the time and was assigned a roommate from Wichita who was consistently homesick and desperately longing for Mexican food to no avail - he did not last the school year. I remember one Chinese restaurant on Dame St., but otherwise the most exotic food you could find was late night kebabs (God bless Iskander’s).
Nowadays, you can find quick service burrito joints all over the city, many Indian restaurants (I am sure there were some 20 years ago, but I was not seeking them out), sushi, Korean BBQ, and many other cuisines. None of them will be as good as the best places in NYC, LA, or even Washington DC, but you have to give them some time to catch up after millenia of almost exclusively white people living there (and many of them desperate to leave).
This is true, but you certainly don’t need to dig far on Trump…
weak! “when in Rome” and such and such. Its a year.
Yeah I guess my comment was more in reference to the small towns of Ireland. I wouldn’t live in Dublin. It’s like every other European city except worse.
oh you drive a mercedes and wear hugo boss. NAZI!!!
E-f’in-xactly
Better start making all your stuff and living in the woods.
Sure, there are some things that are completely unacceptable, but most things are far more gray than black and white.
i think the only difference between trump and the rest of the political elite, is that trump is just worse at hiding his bullshit.
Are you living in the woods in support of the unabomber?
definitely not
