Tourist Sauce, Ireland

No arguments here. He did return from Christmas convinced he could strike it rich by starting an Amway business in Dublin, but that didn’t work out so well either. He also got loaded on Halloween and began crying when he discovered the girl in a cowgirl costume was actually from Ranelagh and had no idea what he was talking about when he started in about his family ranch.

Ted Kennedy killed a person.

i didnt mean to comment on Trumps politics, just who he is, outside of politics i guess.

How is Trump and his organization/business in the “gray” on an ethical spectrum?

Maybe I’ve been living on another planet these last three years.

All I’m saying, we all have a choice in who we support and patronize. You might as well TRY to do the right thing, right?

It ain’t London or even Edinburgh, but it compares pretty favorably to Liverpool, Manchester, and Glasgow and it sure beats Newcastle, Leeds, Cardiff or Birmingham. Continental Europe is a totally different ballgame.

I’d post a link to the Trump thread (cc: @3wiggle) but not sure that thread needs any life breathed into it.

Fair, I’ll stop. I think it’s an important conversation that needs to be had.

What course is everyone looking forward to most this season?

For me, its Ballybunion. Family trip to Ireland 2 years ago for my moms 60th birthday/retirement. My dad and I were able to talk our way into getting 1 round in while there, and settled on Ballybunion.

Edit: Also, if I remember correctly from Instagram, they had some crazy conditions that day.

I agree with this, and it was a big part of what the episode was about. There’s an interesting discussion to be had about the concept and limitations of moral consumerism. That’s what the NLU guise were dancing around.

On the one hand, there is collateral impact on people who are trying to make a living and didn’t choose their birthplace, and at least in this case, are evidently great folks.

There are also limitations on its efficacy, and at times, there can be seemingly an unlimited chain of prohibitions you can impose on yourself if you carry it to logical endpoints, as all things created by humans have deep flaws somewhere.

At the same time, in this particular example, it’s relatively easy to make a consumer’s choice to just go to another high end golf resort in a town that probably needs the business just as much, but which is not lining the pockets of someone you may or may not detest and may or may not think is undermining two centuries worth of public norms and rule of law, which I can see how that might be an absolute enough reason to not give an eff about the nuances in this particular instance.
