The Standoff at Sand Creek -- Supercell vs. GPGC

I’d be down for a ball game!

Don’t feel the need to match. But a color scheme should be followed please.

I’m happy to match if i can.

@CubbieHawk i’ll definitely go red top then. I could do either red, white, or black on the bottom, so if you’re thinking a gray i’ll probably do black.

We have a direct message thread for this very reason. We don’t need to droll on for the supercell to see how fashion forward we are.

Supercell team issued uniforms right here. And yes, the OU is a fucking disgrace to me…

My bad cap. I thought that’s where i was. I’m old and get confused and lost easily.

You are in for a treat. The Ambassador is fantastic and down on the first floor is perhaps my favorite restaurant in Wichita, Siena Tuscan Steakhouse. I recently read that Siena is where the first organized sit in occurred, which was then called the Dockum Drug Store. Having lived in Wichita for 35 years, this was quite the surprise to learn and read about.

I would also recommend going downstairs to the well named speakeasy, Dockum. You can grab a table or sit at the bar there.

Favorite restaurants in Wichita
Siena Tuscan Steakhouse
Georges French Bistro (east)
Homegrown (great breakfast, downtown location not far from Ambassador)
Public at the Brickyard (downtown)
The Monarch (downtown)
Chester’s Chophouse (east)
AVI Seabar & Chophouse (downtown)
YaYa’s Euro Bistro (east)
Scotch & Sirloin (east)

Favorite Bars/Breweries
Norton’s (downtown, indoor and outdoor seating)
Wichita Brewing Company (west and east)
The Anchor (downtown)
Central Standard Brewing (downtown)
Hopping Gnome (downtown)

If you’re like @Randy and enjoy musing on campus, at Wichita State you’ll find a ton of new growth since their 2013 Final Four appearance as well as the first ever Pizza Hut, which is now a museum. The new Technology Campus and dorms now reside on what was once Wichita State’s Braeburn Golf Course (RIP). A fun campus course that was always a blast to play, but was lost to a very deserving and greater good.

Another fun Wichita did you know… Freddy’s Frozen Custard began in Wichita, with their first ever restaurant near 21st and Tyler just 2 miles from where I grew up.

If anyone has any questions or wants a recommendation, just holler. I am happy to help. Looking forward to meeting everyone and enjoying Sand Creek again!

Yea, just wanted to cast a wide net since so many folks will be in town.

They do have fireworks on Friday nights after the game, so you may want to stick around for those.

Wind Surge tickets 5/10 note: Wind Surge dugout side will have the shade!

Another fun and relatable fact about Wichita is that the LPGA was founded here in 1950 at my club, Rolling Hills. I’m not steeped in the history but they had all their organizing meetings after the 1950 Women’s US Open. We’ve got plaques all over the place.

It’s also the only good restaurant on the west side of town. You didn’t say, but your list did. Lol.

Haha, you’re not wrong there!

Yes! I grew up playing Junior Golf there and absolutely love RHCC. Many fond memories of that place. Last few years I have been able to see it a couple times.

I have two spots on Friday at Terradyne at 0940 if anyone is in town in time. Sand Creek is full.

Are you a member or do they allow a little bit of public play?

Member at Rolling Hills, it’s our reciprocity partner. It’s much more like Sand Creek than RH so it should be a good warm up with the Creek unavailable.

I gotcha. I’ve been wanting to check it out! I’m on the west side of the state at southwind. I took a putting lesson with Josh cook this past year and have been meaning to check his facility out over there as well. I just don’t get on the road as much as I’d like

Heading here later if anyone is in town and wants to enjoy a beer or three.

Did we really tie?

Regardless of what you guys figure out for a final tally, I’m still going to remember gacking a 3 footer on 18 that would have won the whole damn event. In my first ever event. Thanks for the warm welcome and I’m definitely ready to run it back. Great to meet everyone.
