The Darkroom: general photography posts and discussion

I think for landscapes the 70-200 might be too long. I do a lot of stitched landscapes when usuing a long lens.

you might want a the RF 15-35 might be a better option for landscapes straight out of camera.

That makes sense. We may have a whynotboth.gif situation on our hands.

Hey everyone :person_raising_hand: I’m new here!

I’ve been taking pictures with my smartphone camera for years now, so I think I have somewhat of an entry-level familiarity with shooting and editing. I recently bought a Canon EOS R100 with an RF-S 18-45mm kit lens, mostly because we needed to get portraits of my son for his first birthday party, and it was quicker to buy the camera and do it myself than wait to schedule with somebody local. Here’s one that I took and edited in Lightroom:

Anyways, I generally want to improve my skills and practice more landscape photography (yes, some golf courses, but also while I’m out on hikes, around town, etc.). I’m not sure what “next steps” I need to take, though. Do I need different lenses for those longer-range shots? An entirely new body? Or, in golf terms, do I just need to “play better”?

Please help!

The best way to improve? Look at other people’s work for inspiration, and then go shoot!

The RNGC invitational is over for another year. The dress code was “world leaders”. There were at least 3 popes, Che Guevara, Jesus, a couple of Cleopatras, a pharaoh, Berlesconi, Gorbachev, Churchill etc Here are a couple of shots (taken on the Pentax 67) from the weekend:

Quick question at a dance recital. So dark. What’s best settings can i use without flash to still get a good pics. Canon EOS

May be a little late on the response but without a flash you would have to either jack the ISO way up, lower the shutter speed, or lower the aperture (f stop).

Bad thing about doing those is a really high ISO will often cause your images to be very grainy. Bringing your shutter speed way down will result in blurry objects. A low aperture can also create some blurriness too.

The scans are here!!

I combed through all of them to find this shot. I think this is one of the most meaningful photos I have ever taken. I may play with the cropping not super happy with the framing, I had to take the picture quickly.

Do you guys edit all of your photos before posting them? Be it colors or something else through Lightroom or similar.

I use snapseed on mobile. I make small adjustments on pretty much every photo but I try not to do anything crazy. Sometimes all it needs is a little crop.

I just want my photos to look more like what I saw when I took the photo - sometimes my technique lets me down and I really need post processing!!

More from Kyoto. Downtown and Higashiyama district

I really love the last one!! One of my favorite memories from the trip even if it isn’t the best shot technically.

Amazing colors on these.

I’m currently on a trip in Spain and Morocco. I have captured over 1000 images of my group as we explore the history of Al Andaluz as well as the Muslim, Jewish and Moorish history in the region. I brought 10 rolls of HP5 for my TLR as well.

Today we spent the day in a Amazigh village learning about the daily life of these remote villagers outside Marrakech.
