The Darkroom: general photography posts and discussion

Agree with Jsg, here. However, there is also the ever present axiom that the best camera is the one you have with you. If lugging around the DSLR is not great logistically, and you’re carrying the iPhone with you, then it’s the best camera for the job.

That’s very true. That’s the reason I switched to mirrorless and carry a 27mm pancake lens with no hood 95% of the time. It’s super compact and light, easy to carry so I never regret taking it.

Bought a wide angle prime lens for my film camera before my trip to Japan next week. Did some test shots on kodak gold. Results are awesome! Sharp and no vignetting which was driving me crazy with my old lens.

Taking my film camera, 12 rolls of film, and three primes. Leaving the digital camera at home! Should be a fun adventure.

A part of photography that often goes overlooked - yet can be some of the most fun and interesting shoots (if you’re in the professional space)

Here’s one for my newest client - you might recognize 'em

My grandma brings me that bread Everytime she comes to visit. Can confirm that it’s amazing, just like Ike’s is a great dive bar!

Also, @patrick_gus you gotta love Bent Tree! The 18th is a flip wedge island green to match the other 250 yard par 3. Lol

ooohhh baby what’s the aperture?

It’s an f/4 but reviews say it’s sharpest at f/8. Definitely a lens I want to stick an adapter on and try digital to test it out and find the sweet spot.

The focus barrel is the nicest I have ever felt on any lens ever. Butter smooth and has such a nice weight to it.

Alright gang, need some guidance.

Going to Sitka, AK for a couple of a days (June 22nd-26th). I planned on renting a lens from Lens Rentals. My current setup is a Canon EOS RP (mirrorless), I have a 50/f1.8, and a 24-105/f4.0. I was leaning towards renting the 70-200/f2.8. I’m going to be shooting a lot of different stuff, but the main priority will be landscapes. Just curious if anyone has any suggestions on what lens I should rent?

I’m also bringing along a little digital disposable/film camera from Camp Snap that hopefully will provide some cool shots.
