Just some tee ball and golf here in sunny socal.

I picked up a new lens for my Sony A7III, the sigma 100-400 F5.6-6.3. Its a nice zoom range and fast enough for sports, especially with the high ISO capabilities of the sony system. Still get nice compression and bokeh. And its lighter than my 70-200 F2.8 Canon lense

Watching a top corner shot pop the water off the back of net is and always will be one of the sickest pictures in lacrosse. Great shots, just gotta get some more of the guys in stripes.

Question for the pros here: Headed on a trip early next year and really want to work on my photo game. Am I going to get any better shots with my old DSLR (Nikon D-5100, w/ 70-200mm f/2.8) than with the latest iPhone Pro? Looking at scenery (day and night) and portraits. TYIA.

Northern lights be crazy.

Yes. Absolutely. Your phone will likely do better wide angle and at nighttime without a tripod, but your DSLR will take better photos in all other conditions. The larger sensor will make much better photos.
