The Darkroom: general photography posts and discussion

Did a trip up the coast north of San Fran a few weeks back for our anniversary and brought the Fuji XT-5 along. I like some of these a lot more than others, but it was really fun grabbing quick shots here and there as we cruised along. I’m pretty sure they all were with the 56mm f1.2.

Your first one reminded me of a couple I took at Redwood National Park last year:

I took the plunge. Anyone have tips on shooting with a drone?

I have no tips, but I wanted to express how excited I am to see what you create! You already have such a great sense of composition and timing, I’m sure the new things you shoot will be excellent.

Ive been so close to picking one up for so long. one of my favorite things to shoot is panoramic landscapes. I would love to hear your take on the drone life

Early reviews are the mini 3 pro is incredibly easy to fly. Haven’t had a chance to actually shoot anything yet, but definitely a big fan so far.

Make sure you take the time to focus the shot while in the air.
It gets REALLY exciting to fly - but if you still don’t focus the camera your photos won’t have as much depth as you’d like.

Just got back from our Sunday event host…
Fall Golf might be too damn good

These photos made my jaw drop so hard, I almost dislocated it. WOW!!!

The black and white is particularly striking.

What I can’t get over is the scale of the landscape. We were hiking along the valley floor and I caught a glimpse of a peak which I thought was pretty impressive (since it would have been 5000m easily) and I asked Dil, our guide, what the name of the mountain was. He said “No mountain. Hill.”. A few moments later, we turned a corner and saw the peak below (Kangtega, 6,782m) behind the “Hill” and he said “That’s a mountain.” reminiscent of that famous scene in Crocodile Dundee.

I keep finding myself drawn back to the way the light works in that second photo. I love the mix of light and dark and the way it draws my eye over ever inch of the photo. Thank you so much for sharing it!
