I looked at both and people said that the autofocus on the sigma is way better but the tradeoff is no aperture ring and images can have some color distortion at higher fstop.
Will put it through the paces and report back!

Haven’t gone full mirrorless (yet) but if that’ll hold all my DSLR crap then it’ll be good for the longevity of my gear.
Trying to consolidate down to a single bag for security going in to stadiums
I have a Lowepro backpack that I use when I go on big trips. It’s a little bit too big of a backpack. I can find you the model sometime this evening when I actually have time. You can fit 2 dslr cameras + like 6 lenses, plus other things. I do wish I had the size smaller though. I have another by Brevite that I use when I’m doing casual travel. That still fits my XT5 and 3 lenses, with other things in the top of it
Hey all, recommitting to getting involved in some extremely amateur photography again this fall after a few false starts over the last five or six years. Zeroing in on equipment, and getting a little angsty about picking the right prime lens for an aps-c sensor. Thinking the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 is the best choice for something approximating a 50mm equivalent, but give that it’s not a “true” equivalent, are there others you all might recommend? Tons of great stuff in this thread, and so many amazing photos. Contributing one I shot on some cheap film with an old Nikon at RMNP
I love my sigma 18-35 1.8 on my crop camera. It’s not a prime, but it’s very fast and excellent quality.
I got two minutes in before I lost it
Laughed my ass off at “Industry veterans know the best way to make money in photography is by selling your equipment”
Oh. My. God. ![]()

“A big sensor makes your photos look more “professional””
I dont see any lies here
I took this at Olympic National Park a couple summers ago. Moved into a new house and decided to get it framed.
A dear friend of mine asked me to take pictures at her reception. My qualifications were that I own a DSLR and live across the street from the venue. She accepted that coming in. She wanted documentation more that art.
But I did get this shot I’m quite proud of.

Update : oh my god it’s so much fun. Went on a walk with it this evening.
Keeps me way more engaged and invested since you are stuck with 36 shots and have to make sure you expose them and focus them correctly. Thankfully looks like the camera functions perfectly even though it was made in 1988 and is mostly plastic. (Pentax P3n)
Love using the split prizm focus tool in the viewfinder. Camera came with a 35-105 vivitar macro focusing telephoto lens that might be the coolest f’n lens I’ve ever used.
Brought the digital fuji with me as well for when the sun set since I had 200 iso film. Enjoyed this shot.
Pentax and Fuji?! You went full hipster!
In my defense, I considered other cameras but the hipster cameras were a good deal

Finally set up an instagram for all my golf and non-golf photo stuff. Follow @hapa.shot, if that’s what you’re into.
