I have a Fuji xt-30 but I don’t use it close to enough. I wonder if I got something smaller I’d be more willing to throw it in my pocket and carry it around. How long of a lens did you shoot those with? Does the setup fit in your pocket?
A scene I found on my walk to the gym this morning. Cherry blossom season in Seattle. I’m thinking I need to move left, get the door in the picture, try to get the powerline out of the shot, and this could be a neat picture.
What lens do you have on the xt-30? Fuji makes good pancake primes. Doesn’t quite fit in the pocket but on a strap my xt-1 is so light I forget I have it.
There are some good macro lenses out there that also serve as decent portrait options. Are you shooting on full frame or crop? what system? I also find that extension rings do the trick, but there’s a bit of a learning curve with them.
Shooting on Fuji, so APS-C. Did a tiny bit of digging and saw that there are some decent multi-purpose options out there. In my head I thought they were kind of designed to just do the one thing. An extension ring might be good option for me, currently.
They are fun! And the point about doubling up as a portrait lens is real, so if you’re interested it portrait photography they can provide additional value. But for me at least, probably not something to spend a lot of money on initially unless you know you want to go all in. It’s been a long time since I shot these, but believe they were all with a fairly entry level Tamron macro.
(Ugh - I haven’t looked at this photo in a while but still get mad about it being slightly washed out right at the top. This is after some minor edits, but may have to try and find the raw file again to see if can do any editing magic. Always thought it would be fun blown up as a giant print.)
Was out in Washington this past week and stopped at Steptoe Butte State Park. It’s basically a giant hill in the middle of a bunch of farmland, but sunrise photos here are sweet (Fuji XT5)
