Strapped Season 9: New Mexico: Will we see New Mexico in Ep. 2?

Came here to say this. Tip of the cap, @djpie.

Had an opportunity the other day to check out Rivian’s new all-electric pickup truck (their factory is right here in central Illinois). One of their extra accessories is a camping package, and I immediately thought of Strapped:

There’s even another package that comes with a full outdoor kitchen that slides out from the cargo area (between the rear seats and the back wheels).

Looking forward to a future season where @Randy and @MerchCzar go “green” and take this thing out into the wilderness to see if it can hold up to the demands of the Strapped boys - or the length of the big guy. I’m sure @djpie can arrange something given his Illinois roots!

Have you watched Long Way Up? They took two prototypes as support vehicles, was pretty cool. They had some interesting technical challenges.

Haven’t check it out yet, but looks very cool. That’s quite a way to “prototype” a vehicle though, very interesting. Thanks for sharing the article.

They just started rolling production trucks off the line a couple of weeks ago, so I’m sure they changed a lot after that journey.

It’s funny because I wasn’t a big fan with the promo photos, but in person the R1T and especially R1S (the SUV version) look really freaking sweet.

Way out of my price range, but damn they look cool.

I liked the season quite a bit. Spending a few isolated days with the same people, you tend to get a little loopy, which produced some entertaining banter and discussion. Made me want to do a similar trip

If you’re interested in a semi-similar trip…I’m still recruiting for this

Surely @KVV gets a pass for providing a crab feast for the Diner Boys.

@KVV’s crib was definitely one of the best hangs in Strapped history, life goals right there for me.

Just finished all 3 episodes last night and was excited to read through everyone’s highlights, but had to stop reading.

Something I’ve noticed that our current culture does that drives me crazy is rank EVERYTHING. The amount of comments about “Not in my top 5”, “Good, but not my all time favorite”… is really disappointing.

Not to get too philosophical, but a big knock on the current young generation (Gen Z??) is the constant comparing over social media and not being satisfied with their own life bc they see what everyone else has that’s “better” than them… even though they have really good things going on in their own life. The comparison diminishes the enjoyment and joy of their own accomplishes because it’s “not good enough”.

Can’t you just watch Strapped for enjoyment and appreciate the joy/misery that Big and Czar go through… marvel over DJs craftsmanship? Does everything have to be under a microscope and reviewed liked a film critic?

I enjoyed watching new, fresh content from the Dad’s on a boring Friday night. It served is purpose. Thanks for reading my TedTalk.

Absolutely agree. Top five comment on this board.

This is the first strapped that I think would work best as one long episode. I really enjoyed watching all 3 parts in one sitting.

Seconded. (Thirded?) As one of my 10-12 favorite middle-aged sportswriters once wrote:

This is something I needed to hear and need to remind myself every so often.

Did a rewatch of ep 3 again this morning - and I just had to grab some screenshots in appreciation of not only the scenery, but always bringing out the personality of the Strapped boys.

Strapped is literally my favorite recurring series on tv/youtube/netflix/hbo/etc., so thank you for continuing to make it and I have a lot of pride that the Nest funds help fund it specifically.

The slight embarassment in his voice when Neil says “It’s like a golf…travel…thing” just kills me. You gotta own it @MerchCzar! No shame for the Strapped boys.

If I was a Strapped producer, every season should end with a visit to a local ice cream shop. Perfect way to finish.

And finally, a few contenders for future memes by those much more clever than me…

I don’t want to get gobbled up by the gang here and maybe this was the vision for the series all along, but I wanted to just highlight something.

“which just feels like an excuse to talk about travel & what makes a place special”

I think this is why Strapped went from being my fucking favorite golf thing on the whole internet to just kind of whatever. I always loved it because of the Neil and Randall vibe, along with the DJ pop ins, but it was also more about the mega bonus and the ball limit and the budget to me.

I’m stoked people are into what it is and, like I said, maybe this was always the goal for the series, but I think that quote really summed up why I haven’t enjoyed the series much lately.
