Strapped Season 9: New Mexico: Will we see New Mexico in Ep. 2?

This was my second-favorite season, just behind new orleans. DJ pie is a b-roll king

Are you familiar with the genre/style of visual nihilism?

It’s about how to make a golf trip on a budget. And that there are golf courses worth visiting that don’t provide fancy bag tags or appear on Golf Digest lists, etc.

I’ve always considered this show a loosely scripted character/bit study with a simple, repeatable premise that is easily relatable for the intended audience. Kind of like Curb on a Golf Trip. The boys are playing fictionalized versions of themselves and also showing you parts of the country you may not have seen before.

Days Inn Money might have got you on Black Mesa. New Mexico is a tough spot to be roughing it in a van. Walking golf courses at altitude in the heat on little/bad sleep is a tall ask.

If you ever go back in a non-strapped scenario, I’d highly recommend Black Mesa and Paako Ridge (closer to ABQ). Played both a few years back in March. Perfect time of year to do it. Long sleeves in the AM, Shortsleeves by lunch.

Excuse me sir, but Walking stick is the #10 on the top 75 most affordable golf courses in the US in 1996!

What do you think the premise of the show is?

I tend to think it’s a little of all 3, but I would love to hear the genesis behind the Strapped series.

Nada

The show’s unstructured-ness is a big part of the appeal for me

Sure, but that would fall under the heading of performance art.

It wasn’t enough, greebs!

Re: @MerchCzar wanting to know what’s going on at Los Alamos National Lab, I wish I had thought of this earlier or followed better on Twitter during production cycles. One of my oldest friends is a chemist at LANL who played golf at Mercer in Georgia. She’s amazing and does a ton of weird, very New Mexico-science-town hobbies like LARPing and building insanely detailed cosplay shit and DMing multiple online D&D groups in addition to basically growing a jungle in her desert backyard somehow.

I was a born and bred local. So lump me in with that.

Or did you just wanna excuse to use that meme?
