Strapped Season 9: New Mexico: Will we see New Mexico in Ep. 2?

Yeah man, is it cool that I liked it, or am I the bad guy for that?

I posted saying this season wasn’t for me. I’m not here to say what you can/can’t like. Good night

And I literally responded with “different strokes, different folks.” Sweet dreams, bud.

The $136 → $133 made me laugh

The West Texas series might provide similar vistas and golf. But the locals are… different. And that’s coming from someone that was born and raised there.

Just budget some cash for the football. Getting expensive these days. Almost $20 or more for quality 5A & 6A games.

Agreed. Loved that bit.

Never tried it, therefore can’t rank it thats why I said jelly is at best 3rd because there are some I haven’t tried that I’m sure would be better

It seemed pretty obvious the diner boys were underwhelmed by pretty much all of the golf courses they played on this trip. That is a bummer because there is a lot of good golf in that area of New Mexico. I understand the take on desert golf. I’m not a fan of it either, but NM has a lot of Mountain / Desert Golf. Love me some Mountain Golf.

My favorite moment from this season was definitely the discussion of NORAD picking up Neil’s “big right miss.”

Are we still bringing home gifts for the C-Suite? Or did the exodus from the Killhouse 86 that bit?

We brought them home desert rocks, and they were free …99!

Missed opportunity to get them a pet rattlesnake.

Randy “forgetting” the Goober at the hotel made me chuckle.

I feel like this was the biggest issue with the courses. Walking Stick is a nice desert style muni. But it is a desert course and if you are off the maintained turf you are going to be hunting for balls in nasty, thorny bushes and cacti. Taos CC is even worse because–as the footage clearly showed–all the off course area is thick with sage. It makes for a cool look but good luck finding a golf ball in it (and if you do find it, you’re still just picking it out of there and dropping).

I wonder where they would have played had they gone in to ABQ.

University of New Mexico course was a finalist in ABQ, but we were all more curious to seeing Los Alamos and Taos, so we went that direction instead. I think Black Mesa was a course that we missed, but if remember correctly, it wasn’t the right price point.

I have seen most of the Strapped seasons, and I can’t help but wonder what the premise of the show is. Is it supposed to be a semi-educational series on how to do budget golf trips to destinations that may not be well known for their golf experiences? Is it performance art for Neil and Big Randy to do character work? Was it a joke of an idea that just turned into a thing and now has sponsors and a following?
