My immediate reaction:
I saw that tweet and - no disrespect to anyone - I hope it’s even close to that good. It’s kind of shocking to me that we’ve already seen 2/3 of this season as I really can’t think of a single memorable moment which is SO off brand for my favorite series. It’s not bad, it’s just not distinctive. Hoping tonight knocks it out of the yard.
We know from the trailer they get a little sideways with the budget, and it hasn’t happened yet, so my curiosity for tonight is piqued.
Hitting the OPE(in) in Wisconsin via tent and living out of a cooler has helped this Strapped venture resonate big time for me. Pumped to see the finale; does indeed make three weeks fly by with the uncertainty of when the next series will fire back up.
I would love to see every shot of DJ waking up Neil on camera cut together.
Bananas and blow was the perfect song choice.
Peanut butter and banana sandwich for the win. Welcome to the club @MerchCzar
I think Jep Willie is a pseudonym, like JK Rowling writing mystery novels as Robert Galbraith. The question is, what famous architect used that pseudonym?
Peanut Butter and Jelly is at best the third best combo
- Peanut Butter and honey (I will die on this hill and no one can sway me)
- Peanut Butter and Bananas
- Peanut Butter and Jelly
Peanut butter and hazelnut spread (nutella) is also solid but peanut butter and honey is the best
Need to combine 1 and 2 homie. Then grill it up like a grilled cheese for perfection.
Agreed. PB with either banana or honey, but not both seems like a waste. Grilled PB&J is also amazing.
Different strokes, different folks. This is my favorite kind of Strapped season. Thirsty “sherpas” are…
My opinion:
- the lack of local personalities (minus the random hammered guy in Ep 1) hurt. I have no idea what the “vibe” of NM is
- the golf courses were meh/had no cool stories
- too much driving
- They were so “strapped” to the van that they were almost too “down on their luck.” I miss more of the lightheartedness of the Strapped boys. Didn’t really come through here.
- No opera music/tension over the bonus
In my opinion, Strapped hits all the right notes when they’re staying in weird/shitty motels/airbnbs and talking to the weird locals about their weird/shitty/great value golf course AND having a blast doing so.
Not every trip is a blast. And I don’t want them to pretend it is. Doesn’t mean the documentation of it can’t be.
Part of what this series to me is that these two (three) guys aren’t in the same place they were three years ago. There’s gonna come a time when they’re not going to do it anymore. Someday soon, Neil will be married, and Randy will be shacked up with a wealthy single mom divorcee in Castle Pines. And as Rick Pitino once said, “Maggie Koerner’s not walking though that door.”
I mean, neither do I.
The weather could suck. The beds could suck. The food could suck. The conditions on the course could suck. They could be hating stuff in the moment.
I meant more having a blast in reference to talking to the weird locals about their weird/shitty/great value golf course and just experiencing the culture
But it wasn’t that. You got that from some bros in Los Alamos. This course obviously kinda sucked. How many words do they need to spend saying it without saying it? They “respected” it. Randy something something the back nine wasn’t so bad. Do you really want them to have some jamoke talk for 15 minutes about how cool and important Taos Country Club is, and then you go out out of your way to play it, and it turns out it sucks?
If anything, they were weirded out by that guy. Listen, all I can say is they probably smiled and laughed half as much. Maybe even less. And maybe I’m wrong about that, too, but that’s the feeling I got.
Night, Duffer. I don’t really want to have you throw more my way all night when my opinion on not enjoying this season very much won’t change.
