Strapped - Reno (Renting a home vs. buying a home.)

In the U.S., you’re pretty much restricted to $100 minimum and up if you want single zero.

i thought they were all 0 and 00 tables.

i cant think of one table i’ve ever seen without them.

raises the casino advantage from 5.26% to 7.69%

Making single $15 bets at a pace of 30 rounds per hour, a player is up against an hourly expected loss of $34.62, almost $11 more than playing a standard wheel.

Understood that it was definitely to the house advantage. Has to be some odds wrinkle in other parts of the field to entice players to choose triple over double 00. Unless they just pull all the 00 tables and replace with triple.

Article says:

As for the Venetian, the last time we checked, two triple-zeroes were in action and no double zeroes — the first time we’d been there without both being offered. Why should they offer double-zero? Both triple-zero tables were busy.

Article comments:

When players are that oblivious, you can’t fault the casino for offering the ripoff variation.

Thanks for that. Article got firewalled here at the office.

Good lord I hate to bring blackjack up again, but it’s a lot like the 6:5 tables everywhere now instead of 3:2. Most people don’t even care to pay attention, so of course the casino is going to exploit everything they can.

Which casino game will we debate tomorrow?

I say we debate if it’s better to bet the O/U vs. the point spread.

But its not good to bet at all! The casino has the advantage!!!

sports-betting is fine, you’re taking money from the gamblers on the other side, and the house takes a small cut.

blackjack (or craps, etc) is like sports-betting on the Bears playing against the Bears. but you can only get the -130 line.

plus, you can actually develop an advantage over the “market” by researching the team, matchup, etc. you can’t gain an advantage over a blackjack table (except by counting cards, which wasn’t what we were debating).

sports-betting (when done right) is unquestionably a skilled activity.

i added the “(when done right)” tag so nobody came along and said “i just arbitrarily place bets based on a coin toss, is that a skilled activity?”

any use of information at all, more than a purely random decision, on something that isn’t purely random chance, can be argued to be a “skilled” decision and i would stand behind that.

Disagree. There is no way in hell, the info that i have, is better than the info the bookmakers or general public have, on any NFL game. The lines are so tight, that its pure chance when betting NFL.

The idea that a bettor has any worthwhile information, is a key component in problem gamblers.

im not saying that you necessarily have an edge, i’m just saying that i wouldn’t argue that you don’t. it sounds like you would argue that, and that’s fine.

but you can make pretty successful sports betting models and play those, they do exist, it’s hard as hell though
