Stanford Women's Golf AWITL: Now talking about Rachel Heck's Decision

Fair point - would also be curious to hear how the course is playing strategy wise for the girls vs the guys who’ll play there next week.

Also the women play it as a par 72; it’s a 70 for the guys.

Ole miss won last year

Haha, you are right. Apparently they didn’t award U of A the title immediately after beating Stanford.

The Oklahoma State men did in 2018, but I wouldn’t bet against you on the women’s side.

Pulling for Stanford to run away with this since the OSU women have played themselves out. Looking at the team leaderboard, it’s crazy to see that the 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 9 seeds round out the bottom. Carnage out there

Just got home from Grayhawk. Wind was down from yesterday but still enough to be a factor. Pins cut close to edges. Greens firm and fast. I attribute the scores more to the course than the conditions and that they’re not pros as mentioned above. Saw plenty of good shots but not a ton of holed putts. If you miss the greens the up and downs aren’t the easiest.

I meant just the womens side, I don’t think it’s happened since they turned to match play in 2015 for us.

I want to come back and play 4 years for coach Walker. Amazing stuff. Makes me very proud to be a Nest member and even help support this stuff in a small way.

I think there should be a playoff for the members of non-advancing teams, too. By my count there are four players at +34 who should need to playoff for the final two spots tomorrow.

Update:

Hailey Borja (Michigan) & Maddison Hinson-Tolchard (Oklahoma State) advance to the final round of stroke play after a 5 for 2 individual playoff.

Looks like South Carolina beat Wake by a stroke in the playoff and will move on.

who knows how the team match play works?

Like Ryder/Prez Cup singles, but no halves, all playoffs.

that’s my question… how is a hole played off if you halve a hole?

(i bet yer talking about halved MATCHES because essentially yer playing fourball with three players for three teams?)

Oh I see, no the top 8 teams go into a single elimination bracket, so they’re head-to-head team matchups.

Just play extra holes.

#1 plays #8 seed
#2 v #7
#3 v #6
#4 v #5

Each team has 5 members on it, so there are 5 matches in a contest. Teams run out their line up 1-5 however they like. The no ties is that at the end of 18 holes if the a match is tied, they play off, don’t split points. Someone has to win a whole point. So one team will win 5-0, 4-1, or 3-2 and advance

but that’s tuesday, no?

15 teams made the cut, for tomorrow’s round is what im asking about – i think.

Tomorrow is just the fourth round of stroke play to determine the final 8 (amd the individual champ). There was a cut of the teams below 15 after today.

Sorry…I assumed you were talking the match play.

Final round of stroke play is tomorrow. The top 8 teams after final round tomorrow make up the 8 seeds for match play. Match play is relatively new for crowning champ. I think (I could be very wrong), but if there is a tie for the 8th seed, each of the 5 players play a hole and they add up all the strokes for the 5 players. Low team wins. South Carolina was the last team in the final round and won a playoff 23-22
