So I played shores for my first round out here and the pro shop was nice enough to give me the local rate. But that was still just shy of $100. I found out about the premiere card, but it sounds like this was the last weekend of that.

At this point, I think I need to establish residency if not no other reason than getting local rates. Is there anything else I can do to keep costs down during peak season?

Back in Jupiter for the season. Would love to join some Splash of OJ events this year. Is there a list of events/dates? Last year got away from me, but did get to play with @PGA_ALLTHEWAY. Cheers.

Hey guys what’s the word on St James bay resort? Got a line on a package for 2 night stay, 3 days unlimited play, breakfast and lunch for two at what seems like a deal

Hey!

It’s a tough scene with the pricing, inventory and quality down here just generally.

A couple local courses to check out that are a bit cheaper and easier to get on:

  • Miami Springs - near the airport, they just did a “renovation.” It’s a golden age design that is fun and fairly benign. If you like Miami Shores, this should fit your vibe.
  • Miccosukee - way inland and south but usually has inventory. I think they have three nines, I’ve only played there once but enjoyed it.

If you don’t mind driving, check out Osprey Point in Boca. Three nines there. Design is solid and the conditioning is typically great. It’s also on the everglades It’s also really cheap, like $45 to walk and it is walkable. Problem is trying to get inventory because it is super popular, but you can usually grab a spot as a single.

There are two nine hole courses I frequent as well: Granada and Greynolds.

  • Granada is awesome. It’s in Coral Gables and just a delightful walk. Cheap but hard to get tee times: they have a robust membership of typically older folks who scoop up a lot of the good times.
  • Greynolds is in North Miami. It’s solid if unspectacular, but the price is right and the conditioning is usually good.

I typically try to get out on these nine-holers early in the mornings on weekdays because pace of play can be a bit tough.

Made the trek up today and don’t blame you for being salty. Thought it was fantastic. But I could only get a rate with caddy so that does get up on you.

Is there a roost slack/discord for Florida or south Florida?

Don’t get me wrong, the course is phenomenal. I just hate how the pricing and their marketing/message don’t align

Yeah, I do get that with the “golf is for everyone” and all of a sudden I’m out $350 after caddy. I do like what it funds for what that’s worth, and seems great if you’re local. now I selfishly wish they’d expand what local means

I live 0.5 mile north of the where that line is drawn. I grew up in west palm within the city limits and when that course was just a meh muni. Now that I live just outside the city limits they renovate it and make it great and I can’t get that discounted rate haha. Wish they would at least offer a county rate. I have friends that have the city resident card and in season it’s still fairly expensive. In summer the resident rate is pretty good especially for the quality of the course

Accessible and affordable mean two different things at the Park. Yes, anyone can play it, but you do have to pay $$.

The caddy stuff is cool but it does add up. I took a caddy the first time and I’m glad I did since it leveled up my course knowledge to the point where I feel like I am getting returns on future visits.

The other thing is golf is just kind of expensive down here. @wmorton829 you mention the Biltmore and Miami Beach, I think those courses are $1240 and $250 respectively right now for out of towners. I know Crandon is closed for renovation, but that’s usually right around $200 too.

I’ve yet to play Biltmore and Crandon, but Miami Beach is nowhere near the level of the Park. And I like that course!

Please tell me that’s a typo

Non-resident rate at Biltmore appears to be $239 for 18, even in the afternoon :grimacing:

In the old days of EZLinks, you could bid on Hot Deal tee times like the old Priceline bid engine. I used to get super cheap loops at Biltmore. #ShrinktheGame

Oh wow, I’ll admit it’s been a couple years since I’ve played any courses down in Miami as my in laws moved to Martin county. Never realized how bad pricing got down that way, I remembered the biltmore being like $100. My point about the park is that it is wildly more expensive than surrounding courses, so it makes more of a splurge every now and then kind of course but it’s hoping to get out of towners in season to pay the out of state rack rate. I can’t fault the park for pricing because they sell out almost every day. I just don’t like the marketing of it, to your point it is accessible but they push the image and imply it’s the normal local $25 muni while charging resort course prices

Yes, sorry for the typo! It used to be $195, but I just checked again and it’s $240.

Yeah, I totally agree the pricing doesn’t match the way it’s been billed.

Hi Florida peeps!

I’m from Michigan coming down over new years (30th-3rd) and am planning on getting down to Streamsong. I was just curious of a few things:

  1. If I have an early enough tee time, could Blue and Red be played on the same day, walking (winter months is walking only)? Is it advisable to do so?
  2. Anyone in the area want to tag along? :grinning: I always liking meeting up with Nest members.
    Thanks!

Cart availability ends 12/23 and doesn’t resume until 3/5/25. There’s almost 11 hours of daylight so you should be able to get 36 in with an early enough tee time and not a huge lunch gap in between. Early tee times may require at least a forecaddie.

Blue and Red are both great; the finishing holes on Blue are tough, so consider whether you want it at the end of a long day. Also check with reservations, there should be a same-day replay rate.
