Welcome! If you’ve already got a place to live and work figured out, that’s huge. DuPont is pretty Central between all 3 public course locations in the district, probably 10-15 min ride from each (albeit none are super convenient to metro, unfortunately).
Pace of play can drag here sometimes, so plan to get your rounds in as early as possible on weekends or during less popular times on weekdays.

Hey folks - figured this was probably the best place to make a first Refuge post. Been lurking for a bit on here and have already gotten active in the WhatsApp group - thanks for the warm welcome there. Love how often folks are getting together, and look forward to getting to know more of you.
Langston/EPGL/UMD are my regular-ish stops, see you all out there.

@Corey Walsh (Cwalsh27) created this spreadsheet. I added a page for VA and DC After listening to the pod today it seem more than likely we will all be put together in one Roost.
At least with this one document we have everyone together and if we each can get 20 Nest members per State than we may have a chance of forming two different groups.
Figured I would ask for forgiveness rather than permission to highjack the list.

I know it’s a bit late notice, but I am visiting DC next Wednesday-Saturday! I am potentially moving to Northeast DC within the next year or so.
As a total newby, I have no idea if golfing is the best use of my solo time on this trip or if golfing is December is worth bringing my sticks.
I visited for a couple days a few years ago and wandered all over the District but didn’t see much outside of the Mall, the Newseum(RIP), and a couple restaurants.
What places/ things would you recommend I do to #getinvolved in the city? Would anyone want to meetup for golf at Langston/ East Potomac Thursday?

So where do the PA guys fit into this? Should I just add myself to the MD list? Wondering if the York area would be better suited to Baltimore than Philly, but that would obviously be up to them.
Just wondering out loud so this might be crazy, but maybe it would work to have a group north of DC and another group south of DC?
There is a Philly sign up sheet so maybe best to put your name on both list
Philly is twice as far away for me, so that isn’t ideal. Balt/DC/NOVA would be my closest. Just didn’t want to mess up any spreadsheets by adding a PA name.
Then I would just sign up for the MD. To be honest you won’t be messing up anything regardless of which area you sign up for as these sheets are mainly to help see how much interest there is in each area.
Based on you location MD seems like it is a better fit. Hope that helps. I’m no Roost official but it sounded like you could be in multiple roosts but could only qualify/compete out of one roost for the club championship they have planned.
It’s been pretty windy and cold but looks to be warming up a little next week. As far as DC goes, East Potomac or Langston would be your best bet, but don’t expect anything too stellar this time of year. I’d bring your gear, there’s always a good amount of guys trying to get a game together in the DMV What’s App group.
Capitol Hill is a great neighborhood to check out with some good restaurants along Barracks row (hit up call your mother for a bagel). Very accessible to the mall too. Afterwards you can swing by Navy Yard for dinner.

Are you able to play Saturday? We have a group getting together and have some spots available. Start at 9:30 we also have 9:40 & 9:50 At Langston.

thank you! Barracks row looks like a great area to check out based on the website. I think i saw others recommending Call Your Mother too so i’ll see if I can work that in.
Totally in for Langston/East Potomac regardless of conditions. To be expected for the off season and seeing it raw will not be an issue to me

Oh man, i appreciate the invite! Saturday morning could be a tough sell to my girlfiriend, so we’ll see. I will be on my own Thursday while she works so thats the best time for me, but I know thats tough with others’ work schedules
