Roll Call: Virginia

I haven’t played Viniterra in a year or so, but if you have a general idea of where your tee shot is going then it shouldn’t be too narrow. Great course and a roller coaster of a cart ride.

I don’t find Vinaterra to be narrow but definitely modern course design with fairway bunkers surrounding landing zones. And the bunkers are generally a penalty.

Just played it for the first time two weeks ago. I would agree it’s not that narrow. Biggest problem I had was staying out of the bunkers. That are very strategically placed regardless of which tee box your hitting from. There are about 100 bunkers too. So if you can stay out of those you should be safe. It’s a bit longer course too, you can’t walk it because several holes are very far apart and it’s up and down throw the woods. Course was in good shape but still brown in the fairways. Greens were decent too. I can only speak for RNK and Viniterra as I haven’t played the other courses you mentioned. Would play RNK over Viniterra.

Gonna be playing the River Course at Kingsmill next week. Anyone played it recently and how were conditions? First time I will ever be playing it

I’ve been bitching about this for days lol. I haven’t played since early January because I got tired of playing in the cold, booked a time on Friday because I have the day off, and it’s gonna be miserable. Probably going to be colder than the round that helped me decide not to play for 2 months.

yeah man I had a baby sitter lined up for friday, 36 was in my sights. My weekend at pinehurst two weeks, 31 with wind chill at tee times. I’m praying this lousy spring pays off with a super summer.

I heard bad things, about the plantation. But I think the River should be better. I haven’t played the Riv. In months. I think it should be good but maybe a bit wet. We’ve had so Much rain. But with Pure Silk there in a few weeks later it SHOULD be peaking.

Is an awesome resource. It’s such a good course.

Just moved from there to RVA. Good actually great course if they have the greens rolling. Tricky sight lines but fair shots. Very friendly staff.

Stock up on water / beer / whatever because often pro shop and or bev cart either isn’t open or at least not for long. If they are they service both courses.

After the round go down to the James Landing grill for a great view and drink.

For my drive to Cobbs Creek, is 17 a nice drive or is it better to go 95 to 64?

Headed to Royal New Kent on 4/17, Saturday, tee time 8:30, to celebrate another trip around the sun for me. @Smidler and myself, got room for 2 more. Think Smidler has stuff to take care of afterwards, but the wife and I will be brewery/restaurant hopping in Richmond after. Anyone want to join for the golf? For the getting drunk and full bellied?

I definitely have stuff to take care of afterward. Am I going to postpone that stuff to have a beer or two back in RVA before I head home…who can say.

So my club is aerating this week leading to a bunch-up on the course. Trying to get out this afternoon and play in the central VA area. Shoot me a message if anyone wants a last-minute round.

throwing this here too.

Anyone else coming down for the 3BR VA event on 7/24 that is interested in a round friday at the River course lmk and we can get this set up.

I’m signed up as a founding member of Belmont. Can’t wait for that to be my weekday club!

Haha, well I’m happy to do it, but considering the whole identity of First Tee is INclusionary, I don’t think you’d have much trouble on your own.
