Roll Call: Virginia

Thanks! Hope to meet some of you guys soon on a course with warmer weather coming. Do you guys organize any tournaments locally?

I’m working on one and hope to have a date out here in the next week to 10days

I’m out in Western Loudoun too. You a member of one of the local clubs?

Awesome. I’ll keep an eye out for more info when the time comes

We just joined Stoneleigh. Love the course, tavern is awesome, tons of events and leagues through the season, lots going on for families and kids.

I’ve been debating between Stoneleigh and Loudoun. Stoneleigh is closer and more affordable but they have a really strict guest policy and my plan is to take my old man with me once or twice a month

Hey everyone. Figured this was as good a place to ask this as any (feel free mods to move if not the right location).

A buddy and I are heading down to the Manassas area in mid march (13-14). Was planning on playing Bristow Manor, but they have the entire weekend blocked for a scramble. Now i am looking into the following:
Bull run
Westfields
Old Hickory
Reston National
Pohicks

Any thoughts? Trying to play at 2 of these on Saturday, but wouldn’t be opposed to replaying if the course is awesome.

Thanks for the help

Westfields and Stonewall would probably be the best on the higher end of the budget out that way. Since you mentioned Pohick, you may also want to look at Laurel Hill, which is pretty far from Manassas.

I’d cross Reston (long rounds) and Old Hickory (I hate the layout) off. Pohick is hit or miss (muni). If it were me, I’d do Bull Run and Stonewall, as they are no more than 15 minutes away from each other.

If you end up doing Reston national, make sure it is the second round so you don’t get stuck in a five or six around around the golf

prayers you get to play, this weather lately is chapping my ass hard

Stonewall is probably equidistant from Westfield and Bull Run. Prince William is another muni near those courses but any combination of the first three would be best.

Thank you all.

I cannot book tee times yet for the dates, so hopefully those are open when the time comes. They have open tee times for now on their websites, so i am assuming they are open to play currently.

Old hickory and Stonewall are last on the list for me… TOO many houses along the course for a guy who can have a rather large right miss…

Good to know on Reston, it would be the evening round, but hopefully i can just get us on Bull Run and Westfields and call it a day… Both look really nice.

When you figure this out, please just put my name on the list. I’m traveling and I don’t want to miss it.

I just got an email from my local course saying, due to the increase in Virginia minimum wage, they will be raising the rates for everything by $2, including member cart fees.

Anyone else heard anything like this?

More than happy to get you guys on the tee sheet for that Saturday if it doesn’t work out for anything higher on your list. I hear ya about the houses being so close. I’d take a bulldozer to most of them if I could (excluding @Fore20 ‘s parents of course)

I don’t think the houses infringe on Stonewall that much. #16 is probably the worst culprit. Reston has houses too, but the level of golf and course quality, Stonewall is a much better course then Reston.
