the dry/flood push/pull in a lot of the state was brutal this year.
Not interested in shipping it because it’s large, but would anyone here be interested in buying a Walker Trolley? It doesn’t fit in the trunk of my coupe and I don’t want to leave it at the club. It’s great, just not a good fit for my lifestyle at the moment.
It’s literally just been used once and is otherwise in perfect shape. I’m in Arlington but will be driving south for the NIT and might be able to meet somewhere if you’re not in NOVA
update: sold to a loving home
If I bought this I’d be in huge trouble, but damn i was literally looking at their site an hour ago again. I have a mazda 6 so I’m guessing it wouldnt be a great fit for me either but damn they look fresh.
They’re a very clean product and look very good in person, but yeah was very bummed that the size doesn’t exactly work with the small trunk of the coupe. It fits in the front seat, but tough to justify that when my BagBoy tucks nicely into the back corner and leaves tons of space for clubs and luggage.
This was my situation exactly right now as well.
Good luck down in the NIT, rep the VA boys well.
I went out to Wintergreen with my wife and in-laws last week for a quick Fall vacation. My FIL and I played Stoney Creek on Wed and Devil’s Knob on Thursday. We lucked into two absolutely perfect fall days. High 60s, sunny, very little wind, and great colors. We went off early both days and never saw anyone else after the first tee during either round. We are both Floridians, so any round of golf with elevation is especially fun (My FIL said “If I get to heaven and it’s just this round over and over again, that would be fine by me” about 10 times during the round at Devil’s Knob lol). I played like trash at DK (into the whiskey after the first tee shot kinda round), but it was one of those days where everything else about the round is so good that it doesn’t matter. I’d definitely recommend playing both courses if you get the chance. They both get bonus points from me because I’m used to flat, boring golf, but I loved them both.
We also hit up Valley Road Vineyard, Bold Rock Cidery, and the Devil’s Backbone brewery while we were out there. I enjoyed all three, but Devil’s Backbone was my favorite of the three because the food was excellent. Possibly the best fried pickles I’ve ever had, and I love fried pickles. Overall it was a fantastic trip for this time of year. I’m glad I live up here now and I’m close to golf in the mountains. SO much more fun.
@wardlt92 and I are making plans to play Laurel Hill on Saturday 11/1 at roughly 1:11 PM to take advantage of the twilight rate (and to finally give the number ‘1’ the celebration we believe it deserves). Would love to fill out a foursome with Refugees, so looking for two more.
Anyone know what the prices are like at Cascades at the Homestead?
I don’t know if there are deals available beyond that.
They usually have a “meh” twilight rate
Thanks for this. I’m in Richmond and play at Lakeside Park Club.
How’s Lakeside holding up? Been a few years since I’ve been out there. Much change at the club since the name change?
Lakeside the course is amazing. Made it through this crazy weather year in great shape. New Super came on board in the spring and he’s doing a great job. So right now they are leaning into the re-branding and really trying to get membership up again. They are also looking for ways to partner with the new first tee facility at the old Belmont golf course. I am encouraging first tee and Lakeside to see about starting a caddy training program that gets hooked up with the I think it’s called Evans scholars program
thats really cool man…youre gonna make it happen and change some lives as a result
Thanks. Need to find some like-minded folks with deeper pockets than mine.

That’s awesome. I’m thinking of joining next spring so I’ll reach out if so!
They are running a great trial offer now. Be sure to check it out. VSGA just sent out an email about it. Or just call over. Let me know if you want to play sometime.
Any idea if there’s any discussion to use the Belmont practice facility? That’s the biggest thing holding Lakeside back.
I know a number of members have said they will ”join” over there to use the new facility. There are discussions happening between LPC and First Tee so what comes of those will remain to be seen. I’m hopeful for this as well. I’ve done a lot of work to make.our practice facility (which is owned by U of R but not used by them ) better. It is better but would require significant investment which understandably the club doesn’t want to do since they don’t own it (and need to work on other things too)
Waited out the rain today and was rewarded with blue skies and sun. Could not have been more perfect for fall golf at the Federal Club.
@SammyShaf has an infectiously great attitude about golf, and spreads the joy of being out on the course. A round with Sam is like watching a kid run down the stairs on Christmas morning. This is the first of many rounds we will be playing together.
@needforspieth has near perfect understanding of his shot shape. You can convince yourself that just this once you are going to hit it straight, but he will pay his shape, and then help you look for your ball before he hits his from the center of the fairway. A stat of note - in an equal number of rounds this year, he has more birdies at the Federal Club than touring pro Michael Allen (as attested to by someone who played with both).
Final shout out goes to my non-Refugee buddy Matt, who managed to scrape it around the course while showing us the proper line to play if you are going to carry it 290+ into the wind. F that guy.
Great fun.
@Andrewo and @Scott.b we need to get a date set. This was a ton of fun, and I am itching to do it again.
