Roll Call: Virginia

The course at Washington Golf in Arlington has been closed for almost 2 years for renovation. Was supposed to open in May. Will be interesting to see what happens. People have been paying a lot of dough not to play golf.

Checking in from Loudoun County. I play out of a club out my way. Hoping we get get some semblance of a normal golf season in 2020, though I think it’s going to have wait till at least June.

I live in reston, but play out there too. grass is growing fast, conditions at my club are pretty good, I hope we have a chance to enjoy it this year.

Everywhere down around Roanoke either punched last week or is this week. Should be nice weather to get them back to pristine shape here in a few weeks.

ANNNNND stay at home order coming in 12 minutes. Damn it.

that doesnt necessarily mean courses will be closed…NC’s stay at home order was issued Friday and allows golf…

That would be DELIGHTFUL.

but NC > VA, so knowing that yall will probably not be allowed to play golf

PA keeps adding more counties to the stay at home order. I don’t know why they don’t just do the entire state and be done with it. And really, I’m not sure it’s going to affect anything. You can still go outside for exercise, to go get take-out or groceries, and for really any other supplies. Maybe I’m missing something, but there are so many loop-holes, I don’t see my life being affected by a stay at home order.

listening to the gov northam’s presser on his stay at home order

he took a direct question relating to golf courses and he said clubhouses closed but the courses are allowed to stay open as long as you are groups of 10 or less

dont really see fairfax county changing their policy but there maybe hope for a COVID round sooner then later

My track put out another email blast saying Northam ok’ed them staying open lol.

we had guys from like 2 hours away playing this weekend

I played at 4PM today out at Hunting Hawk. They put pool noodles in the cup so you countputts holed as long as it hits the stick? Food and beverage staff were less than excited about the ban on cash transactions, for everything is creditcard only. I feel sorry for them for you can’t hang out in clubhouse postround for drinks. Rakes were removed so bunkers play as unkept hazards.

man 3 days of pretty much awesome golf weather, I’m able to get 9 holes in. Off all day tomorrow for good friday, planned to play 36, high of 53 with 20-25 mph winds all day?

WTF Golf Gods?

I played yesterday. Winds were way up. Partner hit a 3 wood into a shortish par 3. Came up short. Putts broke with the wind, regardless of slope. Wild times.

On the plus side, I had a couple very long, wind aided drives.

Played yesterday at Stonewall in Gainesville. It was really packed out there. Course is in pretty good shape, really fast and firm. Greens were punched recently but the ball still rolled well. We had all 4 seasons in one round.

Live in MD but I’ve played a bunch in VA. A few gems:
-Homestead (Cascades) was unbelievable (highly recommended as a ‘drivecation’ spot).
-Blue Ridge Shadows
-Potomac Shores (haven’t played it since they converted their fairways to Bermuda)
-Raspberry Falls is a ton of fun right near the Leesburg Outlets.

Horseshoe, Keswick Hall, Laurel Hill and Ballyhack are very much on my to-play list.

If you can get on Ballyhack I will get you a free hotel room down here in Roanoke if you can swing an open spot lol. That place is hard to get on.

Homestead I’ve played a few times for $45 lol since I knew a guy who worked there.
