Roll Call: The Duck Club | Canadians, Beer and Cow Pastures

Our workaround where I bartended in university was 10$ Pizza Pops.

I have some food truck takes floating around some other threads. TL:DR if done right, I’m for it, just skeptical

My lottery plan is a basically the Cradle model with a brewery/food truck on site. No dress code, play barefoot. Fun for the entire family.

Maybe that’ll be the Duck Club.

Just looked up what a group of ducks is called.

Can we get a wood burning pizza oven in a food truck? Saw that on Triple D once. I’d be all for that

The microbrew in many parts of Canada has certainly exploded since governments have decided to lift the cartel like rules protecting big domestics.

For the longest time, the US beer scene was far superior because they had better rules. We had this stupid “Canadian beer is better” thing going on - on the basis of Kieths or Canadian being marginally more drinkable than Coors. Stupid.

I love the choice and the vibes in breweries now.

I’ll go halfsies on it with you.

Also my course just sent out it’s updated dress code. It’s… something.

  1. Tailored and non-faded slacks, shorts, or golf skirts are required.

  2. Shorts and skirts must be of appropriate length.

  3. Track suits, cargo pants, denim of any colour, and yoga pants are not allowed.

  4. Shirts are to be tucked at all times.

  5. Sleeveless shirts are allowed but are required to be collared; collarless shirts must have sleeves.

  6. Only golf related logos on all garments are permitted. No sport team or corporate logos are to be worn at any time.

  7. Appropriate golf footwear such as soft spikes, golf shoes, or toe golf sandals must be worn.

  8. In lieu of golf shoes, running shoes may be worn as long as they are approved by the staff. No street shoes or sandals are permitted.

  9. Caps and visors are not permitted to be worn backwards.

  10. Spectators are required to wear appropriate clothing for the golf course.

There is a movie Beer Wars that used to be on Netflix about the craft scene in the US. If you can find it now. It’s definitely worth a watch…I might have it downloaded/saved somewhere and might be able to share it if there is interest

I can cut the sleeves off a FootJoy polo and wear it then?

That’s my interpretation.

But don’t you dare wear it with a backwards hat!

Yeah, definitely buying this for the little dude. He has the shorter version and it’s pretty lackluster.

do you have the site up yet? I cannot find it…but I tried!!

Tailored golf skirts…I wonder if that would preclude the more athletic/tennis skirt style that most companies are going with now…

Also, it’s funny that Adidas’s LPGA stars are wearing sport shorts while courses are rolling out this stuff

It’s crazy. And I get it’s pretty well in line with most courses and what they have posted, but up until now (weekend before Club C) they’ve been touting themselves as the laid back club.

I can’t count how many times I’ve played with a hat on backwards and a shirt untucked. One of my best friends is a stick and he never plays with shoes on.

The golf-adjacent logo thing is hilarious too. When I worked in hockey I essentially spent my summers playing in charity golf tournaments. You tellin’ me I can’t wear my workplace’s logo on a Nike golf shirt at your course?

I just don’t get it.

Oh god pls not Steamwhistle. Not that it’s bad. Just that it’s an insulting business model.

And I can’t believe I’m late to the craft beer talk. Online orders, trades, fests, countless bars in the past, muling, etc.
Had more than my share.

Current favs from: Barncat, ThirdMoon, Town, Dominion City, Tooth and Nail… so many doing great work.

Preferences on Cdn Whisky?
Not trying to influence anyone here but Wiser’s is good stuff.
