I’ve been to brassneck. Will have to check out some of the others next time I’m in town.
I’ve been to the Brass Rail. Doubt it’s as cool of a spot as Brassneck though.
What’s taking you guys so long?
I love seeing all the breweries pop up but very interested in what the craft brewery/brew pub scene looks like in 5 years
Yeah that’s a big concern of mine and something my office dealt with pretty frequently when I worked in economic development.
The really successful ones give you a value add.
For example, Refined Fool in Sarnia started off as a really small brewery, but has new divested into two brewery locations, 2 different restaurants (March Hare and Burger Rebellion) at 3 different locations, and has now opened up a separate bar/restaurant called Sports that will cater to the typical sports bar crowd and not be so focused on the craft beer scene.
The other one that’s gotten really successful here locally, Stonepicker, is a super small brewery that focuses on just a couple beers but has expanded their seating and will be doing outdoor weddings pretty soon.
I think as long as craft breweries can continue to expand their offerings and get creative with how they attract customers, they’ll be around for a while.
In a way, they’re like cupcake shops from 10 years ago. There were a lot, and now there are a few.
My wife got one of those cupcake shop offerings from a vending machine at the Vegas airport.
Fucking awful.
It will be interesting to see if bylaws/regulations pop up that impacts the breweries. I know part of the appeal of breweries in Vancouver is that they’re not bound by some of the same strict regulations as bars and restaurants- makes for a chiller hang. I could see breweries getting subject to some of the regulations around food ordering etc and ruining the vibe
As posted in the thread of the copycats. I(We) are the proud owners of this domain name now. Best thing I’ve bought today.
I personally think we should make it an SEO powerhouse so that anyone who searches for TBC gets The Duck Club first.
Also potentially some fairly priced accessible head covers.
Oh my
That’s starting to happen here. If you offer tables for people to sit at, you have to offer food.
Some places are getting by with just offering bags of chips, but I’ve heard that that may be changing (at least locally).
I hereby volunteer my time for this venture.
I’ll get going on a higher quality version of the logo that has become my avatar.
I know some of the smaller places are trying to make deals with nearby restaurants and offering smaller menus. Not sure if that will keep getting them by though
A cool workaround I’ve seen has been the emergence of food trucks in the parking lots. I’m all for that.
Stipulation is we use one of our resident craftsguise like @Geaugolf to be the official headcover supplier for The Duck Club
Ya I know some breweries in van have gotten around these with creative licenses (ie I believe Storm brewing has a license where they sell a tour of the brewery with samples rather than selling beer) I found pre COVID the breweries had the best chill and community vibe (grab a beer, find a spot at a table, no server bugging you) and could see that getting lost as restrictions get tighter
We need a mission statement. Something about building world class, accessible golf (that might be too good) through the sale of merchandise.
I’ll buy the first putter cover, sight unseen.
The sale of duck related merchandise, mayhaps?
Vision: To become the most inclusive community of golfers worldwide.
Mission: Promote inclusivity in golf through the sale of reasonably priced The Duck Club merchandise.
