Roll Call: The Duck Club | Canadians, Beer and Cow Pastures

As SVG said you’re in the centre of the golfing universe.

Lots of great options for golf, and we even have a few events coming up locally for you to meet some of TDC. We have the Beatdown in the Bog in August and then the Red Wedding in September. Plenty of opportunities to get involved.

@ricellir Lachute, Parcours No.1 (Thompson) is the play here if you do not want to go to Grand Mere (bit far). Fantastic golf course for the price. Not too far from Montreal. Some more details here:

Haven’t played it but in Montreal there is I’lle De Montreal - the Ireland course

I would not travel 2 hours for Mont Tremblant or Owl’s Head (havent played it but Graham Cooke tends to do mediocre courses) when Grand Mere is about the same.

Welcome!

As @scottyrp4 said, I just fired you off a DM with some links and info. Always great bringing some new locals into the fold and look forward to catching you for a round sometime soon!

You made good choices. Muskoka Bay is probably the best/nicest public course in Ontario. Heathlands is my favourite layout at TPC Toronto as well. Solid weekend.
Enjoy!

Welcome! Join the WhatsApp group and there are dozens of us in the KW region who would be happy to play with you sometime. Lots of opportunities to seek out playing partners. Hope to see you at one of the events coming up

How could I forget about Ile de Montreal!! That’s a fun track, especially the Ireland course! Great shout.

Just wanted to pop back in and thank the lot of you who gave course recommendations, and perhaps more importantly, navigational recommendations. From a logistical standpoint, it could hardly have gone smoother (well, we barely made the Muskoka bay tee time due to the delay in my red eye from Los Angeles that shifted my departure time from 22:30 to 1:30, but a bit difficult to plan for that).

As I mentioned earlier, we ended up doing MB, the par 3 at lake Joe, and the heathlands course. MB was a proper test and definitely kicked my teeth in, but it’s always a good sign of a good course when you want to immediately turn around and play it again. The par 3 course was fun but my one regret over the weekend is not getting to play the actual 18 at lake Joe. Seemed really nice. Finally, what a complex at tpc toronto. I would go back with the sole purpose of playing heathlands again, though I do want to see what those other courses are like. I won’t spam this thread with pics of places many here have played, but you can go check my mediocre snapshots in the “where did you play today” thread if you are so inclined.

One other parting question I have: I noticed a ton of golf courses listed on highway signs on the drive up to Muskoka. What’s the deal there? Are those all public? I felt I saw at least 5 distinct ones. I thought that was pretty neat.

Okay! This post is over!

Yes those are all public! Or at least most of them are.

Glad you enjoyed your trip, and do drop a line in here if you’re back and looking to tee it up. Lots of golf sickos spread across Ontario.

Looking forward to it!

Anyone want a couple clubs and a scotty thrown in for sub $100?

That’s wild. Feels like an auto-buy and piece it all out for funsies.

Deals like this come along sometimes. Hopefully someone here can snake it.

Welcome @majormjr I’m also in waterloo, always happy to connect for a game. Grey Siloy favourite public in the area.

Tagging along on my wife’s work trip to Montreal in a couple weeks (Aug. 7-10). Any course recommendations for the greater-Montreal area or places I should avoid? Hoping to get a round or two in.

There was someone else in here a few weeks ago looking for some recommendations. Some good info starting here

clears throat

Greetings all, very new here, but very familiar with the world of NLU.

Great to see a little slice of Canada flourishing here, was worried TC may have stamped it out after Oakdale.

Anyways, calling from Grey/Bruce county. Anyone thats golfed up this way may be unfortunate enough to understand my handle.

Not a member this year, but can usually be found at Pike Lake/Stone Tree/Blackhorse, or maybe even Northern Dunes in a pinch.

Played Trannadowah earlier this year and it was revelatory. Very special.

Cheers

Saugeen. That’s the post

Very hard to get on. Played it twice so far this year, once in a scramble. I dunno. It’s in absolute pristine condition, and I like the Thompson 9, but architecturally, its pretty empty, particularly SR and SS.

If Chippewa ever got its act together, it would beat Saugeen imo.

Brother!

I’m out in Ottawa these days, but still get back to play a few times a year.
