Roll Call: The Duck Club | Canadians, Beer and Cow Pastures

Grey Silo is in Waterloo, the best public in the area. Rockway is a fun Stanley Thompson (think golden age) a little short but lots of fun. I’d offer to join you but have members league tomorrow, already have a foursome. where you coming from, there could be recommendations along the way.

If you are staying in Guelph, i would recommend the Wooly Pub downtown or Borealis on the south end of Guelph for dinners.

If you’re in Cambridge, come play Savannah, I work there. Be warned Hole 4 is controversial.

Also in Cambridge… The Mule, 13 Food and Beverage, Four Fathers, Beertown are all good options. We also have some very good ethnic options.

I just really hate this city.

I’m going to be in downtown Montreal the first week of October. What are the best tracks in area I should play?

Happy to give some recommendations, though the nicest ones I’d say are either private or a little drive. How far are you willing to travel?

Thanks. Probably an hour or so drive, maybe a little more if it’s a must-see place.

An hour drive:

Lachute - would recommend the Stanley Thompson course. Not too expensive either.
St Cesaire - Graham Cooke track (local Montreal golf legend) - some cool bending and winding holes through trees with small greens.
Cowansville - Howard Watson - can play to a nice length and greens are usually in great shape. Fun fact: Bob Vokey’s brother is the greenskeeper here!

Two hours:

Le Diable at Tremblant - the best of the Tremblant courses in my opinion, very hilly though! Be prepared for some side hill lies.
Owl’s Head - another Cooke, on the side of a mountain, but some really nice views! A personal favourite.

And here’s a little info on it - it’s about a 2hr drive depending on where you are in the city.

Ah man, I was in the Kitchen all day.

Hopefully you enjoyed the round. Our owner really takes pride in his grass lol so I hope the conditions were up to snuff for $50CDN.

Conditties were very solid.
4 is provocative, tried it 3 different ways off the tee for giggles. Still not sure how I’d ideally go after it.
Definitely some lines you have to know the course to take, landing zones seemed very black and white. Not a good time if you are spray and praying a driver, but I had my sunday halfset and when you keep it in front of you I could see it being gettable.
Enjoyed it, would happily catch you here for a round someday!

Yeah it’s very much a shot makers course. I’ve seen guys go real low when they have their games going.

There’s definitely a few holes that require a Sherpa if you’re going to get after it. All in all I love the place but I’m a little bias lol.

Glad you enjoyed it, farmhouse on 7 is my favourite.

greetings to the duck clubbers! a while back, i asked for course recs in muskoka; happy to report i will be playing muskoka bay tomorrow and tpc toronto (heathlands) on monday. unfortunately conflicts with the members tee times at lake joseph and rocky crest prevented us from getting times there over the weekend, but will probably dick around on the par 3 at lake joseph on saturday. unbelievably excited.

quick question - what’s the going rate for a box of prov1’s up there? cursory research seems to suggest about $73 CAD, which is about in line with US prices. just seeing if there’s any opportunity for arbitrage. thanks!

Enjoy! Both courses are very fun. Just got up to Muskoka myself — hope the air quality is good for you tomorrow (but at least you won’t be walking). You’ll enjoy Heathlands too — very different aesthetic and a good challenge.

And you’re right on ProVs. About $73 at Golf Town and sometimes a bit more in a pro shop. Cheers

right on! are you going to be able to play this weekend? i’m sure I’m going to be kicking myself that I wasn’t able to play more. friends getting married getting in the way and all that.

Just family lake time this weekend — too much time away recently to justify it. Though I am ten minutes from Bigwin Island…

Enjoy your weekend! Great time to be up here

Hi All,

Moved to Waterloo recently and looking for some people to join up with to play a round. I’m a pretty new golfer on year 2 but have been playing fairly often, still losing some balls but keeping the scores in the 90’s at least. I have been trying a few courses in the tri-city region but willing to play wherever, I’m usually available evenings during the week and weekends for a round.
