Would definitely be in
Abso-fffff-lutely!
Probably before, during AND after the rounds if I’m being honest.
I hear ya. As soon as BTP has his travel dates, I’m going to get on them about a booking. I’ll canvas for numbers at that point and see what we can do!
I’m not holding my breath, and there’s plenty of great golf out there to scratch our itches. But… I really want to make Sagebrush happen. We’ll see how it shakes out!
This is the first I’m hearing about Talking Rock. How did I miss this? Place looks fantastic.
Same - wasn’t on my radar at all until Polecat played it. Can’t wait to see it now!
Always interested in something like this. I made it to tobiano last year, and played talking rock which was also a lot of fun. Keep me in mind if I can invite myself.
Honestly more excited to play talking rock again than tobiano, but tobiano waa spectacular and would be excited to see it more.
Would love to have you!
One of my good friends lives in Squamish and is a member at Fairmont Whistler; I could definitely plan a visit out there I’m sure he’d love to play Sagebrush; I’ve heard good things about Predator Ridge I think it is from him.
Just some extra background, my in-laws have a cabin near Salmon Arm that we were going to plan this around, just waiting to confirm dates for next year. Will likely be mid-late July with the golf likely mid-week
I feel like this is where between courses. Haven’t played yet, but I’ve heard Tobiano can be tough. Can see it being one of those great to play, but not every day. Where Talking Rock was very playable.
This is crazy when you have Squamish Valley in your backyard.
He plays there quite often too. I’ve played there a bunch when I was living out there. Used to work at Backcountry Brewing.
I should add he’s a super boujie dude but he’s a great friend; just likes to have the finer things in life lol.
There are a couple of us motherDuckers in the Windsor area.
I saw two faces of tobiano and it was more playable than the appearances let on but there are many forced carries, hefty ones, and plenty of visual intimidation.
I played round one at tobiano on a cooler fall day, lots of wind, playing blind still was fun, and managed a pretty avg round score which kind of surprised me given the obvious trouble. If for instance you lost your vibe off the tee, I could see things stacking up pretty quick.
Second round there was sublime, calm, warm, beautiful, all I could’ve wished for. Totally changed the course, as you’d expect and suddenly it felt like it was there a little more to get after, and play a bit of offense.
I definitely felt more on guard at tobiano, and aware that danger lurked. Balls off course in many spots are just gone. It was awesome.
Talking Rock was just more gentle, still not a total resort course (while being one) but it gave me the vibes of a course I’d have fun playing again a couple of times to figure it out a bit. Arriving at the course their warmup area is fantastic for those that care, and for what feels like a sandbar in a river, there was suddenly a whole ton of elevation on the back 9. Literally a shocking amount from what I expected driving up.
This picture is from the top of the course, felt like 100ft of drop? Maybe I’m exaggerating but it was a looooong way down.
Anyways I played with a threesome of young bucks on a golf trip who happened to work at the petroleum golf club in edmonton in a weird twist. The course was fun, and I played okay but it just felt like a place that you could play around and figure out. At the time I wished for another shot so I’d like to see it again. My only gripe really was that all the bunkers played nearly bare, hard pan, with a skiff of top sand. I bounced and bladed the one or two shots I had in them before figuring it out too late.
Anybody free for a Monday evening or Tuesday anytime tee time? Haven’t played at all since I went down with Covid and I’m looking to finally getting back out.
Looking for a nice comfy round somewhere in the KW area.
I’ve seen Dixon Entrance GC on Google Maps before but didn’t know much about it. Now I want to play it.
Thanks for sharing. This was an interesting read and I immediately went to Google Maps to check the place out. At first I was wondering what I was looking at. But now I see it clearly. Super cool to have golf in such remote places
What’s up my northern friends. Going to be traveling and staying in Mississauga once a month for work. Once I get situated, likely going to find a way to bring a half set to play evenings or take an additional day off.
Looks like the closest course to my probable location is Braeben. Any insider info on that track?
It used to be a garbage dump; literally.
But it’s a fun track.
Braeben is alright, your typical muni. Pretty fun track with some quirky/blind holes but very playable with average conditioning. Your better option in Mississauga is likely Lakeview
